Director of Nursing

The Director of Nursing plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of healthcare at Brave Kidz. This full-time position carries responsibility for supervising clinical services at the Pediatric Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) Center.

The Director of Nursing utilizes the nursing process to provide seamless nursing care, supervises and coordinates children's needs, and orchestrates a plan for optimal quality of care. Compliance with all Federal and State regulations and adherence to company policies and procedures are essential. The Director of Nursing is expected to be on-site during operational hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure strict compliance with ACHA guidelines, Medicaid Regulations, and Brave Kidz policies and procedures.

Organize and oversee clinical operations within the PPEC Center.

Direct the delivery and quality of nursing services to individuals.

Supervise all nursing staff and unlicensed assistive personnel.

Maintain regular communication with the primary healthcare provider of individuals, at least every 90 days or as necessary, with detailed documentation in medical records.

Initiate the individual's Plan of Care and Re-certification process.

Ensure execution of the individual's Plan of Care as prescribed by the physician.

Oversee timely and accurate documentation in individual's medical records.

Coordinate care and services among multi-disciplinary team members and physicians.

Develop, coordinate, and implement goals, objectives, standards of practice, policies, and procedures for the nursing service.

Address key areas including health service needs assessment, continuous observation, notification of significant health status changes to the Administrator, referrals to primary healthcare providers or specialists, and maintenance of records as per Brave Kidz.

Assist the Administrator with staff development, in-service training, continuing education, staff performance reviews, progressive discipline, and counseling of Center staff.

Collaborate in the continuing quality improvement and utilization review.

Ensure appropriate daily Center staffing, maintaining a sufficient number of qualified personnel and independent contractors as per state-specific guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Administrator.

The Director of Nursing should meet the following qualifications:

Hold a current Florida registered nurse license.

Possess a current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Have a minimum of two years of general pediatric nursing experience, with at least six months spent caring for medically fragile infants or children in a pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, PPEC, or similar care setting within the past five years.

Demonstrate adequate knowledge of home ventilators, apnea monitors, oxygen, trachs/trach care and suctioning, special feedings, G-tubes, N/G tubes, and IV administration.

Show evidence of a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.

Pass a satisfactory criminal background check.

Prior nursing supervision and/or administration experience is preferred.

The Director of Nursing must meet the following physical requirements:

Ability to stand and lift or assist in lifting individuals.

Capability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and demonstrate flexibility to meet the care needs of individuals.

Clear visual and auditory acuity to appropriately monitor individuals and associated medical equipment.

Adequate strength and manual dexterity, including handling and manipulating small objects, to operate medical equipment effectively.

Ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations.
