Job Title: Overnight Resident Care Staff (Preferred Med Tech, CNA, or Home Health Aide)
Reports To: Administrator or Resident Care Coordinator

Position Summary
The Overnight Resident Care Staff is responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents throughout the night while maintaining a clean, organized, and secure facility. Preferred candidates are certified Medication Technicians (Med Tech), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), or Home Health Aides (HHA). This position includes medication management, resident assistance, housekeeping duties, and preparing the facility for the day shift.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Care
- Perform routine overnight safety checks on all residents.
- Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance.
- Assist residents with toileting, repositioning, transfers, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and immediately report concerns to the Administrator or appropriate medical personnel.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional care while preserving resident dignity and privacy.
- Document overnight observations and resident care provided.
Medication Management (Preferred Med Tech)
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and facility policies (if certified and authorized).
- Accurately document medication administration.
- Monitor residents for medication side effects or adverse reactions.
- Notify the Administrator or nurse of medication concerns or prescription refill needs.
- Ensure the medication cart and medication room remain organized, clean, and secured.
Housekeeping Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all common areas, including:
- Living rooms
- Dining room
- Hallways
- Activity areas
- Bathrooms
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors as needed.
- Dust furniture and disinfect high-touch surfaces.
- Empty all interior trash cans and replace liners.
- Dispose of trash in designated outdoor receptacles.
- Ensure the facility is clean and presentable for the morning shift.
Laundry Responsibilities
- Complete any remaining resident laundry from the previous shift.
- Wash, dry, fold, and organize linens, towels, and resident clothing.
- Store clean laundry in designated areas.
- Notify management of damaged linens or clothing.
- Keep the laundry room clean and organized.
Kitchen & Coffee Station
- Clean and sanitize the kitchen before the end of the shift.
- Wash and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean countertops, sinks, tables, and appliances.
- Restock coffee supplies and prepare the coffee station for the morning shift.
- Ensure refrigerators are clean and food is properly stored.
- Remove expired food items when identified.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen throughout the night.
Facility Responsibilities
- Ensure all exterior doors and windows are secured.
- Monitor the building for safety hazards.
- Maintain adequate supplies in resident bathrooms and common areas.
- Restock paper towels, toilet paper, soap, gloves, and other necessary supplies.
- Report maintenance concerns immediately.
- Assist with emergency situations according to facility policies.
Documentation
- Complete overnight shift reports before the end of each shift.
- Document medication administration (when applicable).
- Record incidents, accidents, or unusual observations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information in accordance with HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Medication Technician (Med Tech), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Home Health Aide (HHA).
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
- Experience working in an Assisted Living Facility, nursing home, hospital, or home health setting preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, dependable, and professional demeanor.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, transfer, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with assistance when appropriate.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach frequently.
- Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.
Performance Expectations
The Overnight Resident Care Staff is expected to:
- Complete all assigned medication passes accurately and on time (if certified).
- Ensure residents remain safe, comfortable, and properly cared for throughout the night.
- Complete all assigned housekeeping and laundry tasks before the end of the shift.
- Leave the kitchen and coffee station clean, sanitized, stocked, and ready for breakfast service.
- Empty all trash receptacles and maintain a clean facility.
- Complete all required documentation accurately before clocking out.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow all Sunshine Living ALF policies and procedures.
- Comply with Florida AHCA regulations, OSHA standards, infection control protocols, and resident rights requirements.
- Maintain reliable attendance, punctuality, and a professional appearance.
- Immediately report resident concerns, medication errors, falls, safety hazards, or emergencies to the Administrator or on-call supervisor.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
