Full Job Description

Center for Postpartum & Family Health | Rolling start, immediate availability

We are recruiting off-cycle for a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship in perinatal and women's mental health. If your fellowship plans changed late, or you are finishing your doctorate now, we have a seat open and we can move quickly.

CPFH is a perinatal specialty practice serving mothers and families across the Houston area and by telehealth throughout Texas. Our referrals come directly from OB/GYN practices, maternal-fetal medicine, fertility clinics, pediatricians, and community partners. You will not spend this year building a caseload — you will spend it building expertise.

What you will train in

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including perinatal OCD
Birth trauma, infertility, pregnancy loss, and reproductive mental health
Matrescence, identity, and the transition to parenthood
Couple and family systems across the perinatal period
Interdisciplinary collaboration with medical providers
Optional: infant and early childhood mental health as an elective concentration — dyadic 0–5 work supervised in house by a psychologist who completed a two-year APA-accredited early childhood fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CPP, DIR/Floortime, interaction guidance, early childhood assessment)
Optional: psychological assessment as an elective concentration (capped at one comprehensive evaluation every two weeks)

Duration

12 months

Training week 36 hours

Clinical load 25 sessions/week

In person At least 12 sessions/week on site in The Woodlands, with the option to work from our Houston Heights location; the balance is telehealth

Individual supervision 2 hours weekly

Group didactics & case conference

Paid time off 8 fellowship program holidays + 15 days protected PTO, granted up front — not accrued

Licensure Launch Benefit. Up to $1,500 toward EPPP preparation and your first exam attempt

Specialty Training Benefit. Up to $2,000 toward the PSI training pathway for the PMH-C credential

Also includedMedical, dental, and vision contribution; employer-paid life and short-term disability; malpractice coverage; 401(k) and profit-share eligibility per company terms

What happens after

This fellowship is designed as the first step into a permanent role, not a year of borrowed supervision hours. Our intended pathway is Postdoctoral Fellow → Licensed Psychologist → Specialty Psychologist → Supervisor. Fellows who complete the year and want to stay are exactly who we are trying to hire.

Who we are looking for

PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program
Completed APA-accredited internship
Eligible for provisional licensure in Texas
Genuine interest in perinatal, reproductive, or women's mental health — prior specialty training is welcome but not required
