TITLE: UI/UX Designer — Figma & React Design Systems (AB260770)
LOCATION: Spring, TX
TYPE: Long Term Contract / Hybrid Work Schedule
JOB SUMMARY:
Seeking a UI/UX Designer who is deeply proficient in Figma and experienced in bridging design to production React frontends. This role supports a modern engineering software platform serving the marine, offshore, and structural engineering industries. The ideal candidate moves fast from business requirements to high-fidelity prototypes, thinks in design systems rather than one-off screens, and understands the workflows of engineers who work in 3D CAD and simulation environments.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Expert-level Figma proficiency — component libraries, auto layout, variables, interactive prototyping, design tokens, and branching/versioning workflows
· Figma design system management — building and maintaining scalable design systems with variants, nested components, and token-based theming that map cleanly to React component libraries
· Figma-to-React pipeline experience — hands-on use of code generation and handoff tooling (e.g., Locofy, Anima, Builder.io, or Figma Dev Mode) to produce production-quality React/TypeScript output; ability to structure Figma files so generated code is clean and maintainable
· Figma AI features — practical experience with Figma's AI-assisted capabilities (e.g., AI-powered asset search, rename layers, visual suggestions, first drafts) and third-party AI plugins for accelerating design workflows
· Strong UI/UX fundamentals — information architecture, interaction design, user flows, wireframing, usability testing, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
· Front-end design literacy — working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and React component architecture; ability to inspect and red-line designs for developers; familiarity with CSS-in-JS, Tailwind, or styled-components is a plus
· Data-dense and technical UI experience — designing complex interfaces such as dashboards, data tables, tree views, property panels, and multi-step workflows (not primarily marketing or e-commerce UI)
· Rapid business-requirements translation — ability to quickly absorb domain-specific requirements from engineers and product managers and translate them into clear interaction models and visual designs
· Prototyping and stakeholder communication — high-fidelity clickable prototypes for stakeholder review; clear presentation of design rationale using tools like FigJam, Miro, or PowerPoint
HIGHLY DESIRABLE SKILLS
· Engineering / CAD / 3D domain experience — prior work on software used in engineering design, structural modeling, CAD/CAM/CAE, simulation, or technical/scientific applications
· Marine or offshore engineering software — familiarity with the workflows and terminology of shipbuilding, classification, or structural engineering
· Design system ↔ component library synchronization — experience keeping a Figma design system in sync with a live React component library (e.g., Storybook integration, token pipelines via Style Dictionary or Tokens Studio)
· Responsive and adaptive layout design — experience designing interfaces that work across desktop, web, and potentially embedded/offline deployments
· Motion and micro-interaction design — ability to specify meaningful transitions and feedback animations that improve usability in complex workflows
· Familiarity with modern design/dev collaboration tools — Storybook, Chromatic, Zeplin, or similar
EXPERIENCE
· 3+ years of professional UI/UX design experience, with at least 2 years focused primarily on Figma
· Portfolio demonstrating complex, data-rich application design (not only websites or mobile consumer apps)
· Demonstrated experience delivering designs that were implemented in React-based front-end applications
