Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Laser Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team across multiple shifts. 1st shift, Monday - Thursday (6:00am - 4:30pm), 2nd shift, Monday - Thursday (4:00pm - 2:30am), and Weekend Shift, Friday - Sunday (5:00am - 5:30pm). In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to produce precise metal and material components. Your expertise in machine operation, technical drawing interpretation, and safety standards will ensure high-quality production and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced industrial equipment in a fast-paced environment dedicated to manufacturing excellence.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills and 5-axis CNC laser machines by interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and production documents to ensure accurate fabrication of parts.
- Editing programs to adjust settings for optimal performance.
- Configure fixtures, vises and rotary tables for accurate machining and cutting operations.
- Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of CNC laser equipment to maintain peak functionality.
- Measure finished parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy according to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine tooling, materials, and machining sequences.
- Maintain detailed production records, quality control documentation, and machine logs to ensure traceability and compliance with safety standards.
- Additional duties as needed within the CNC/Laser department.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in operating CNC machining and/or 5-axis laser in a manufacturing or factory setting.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, CAM programming, and machine operation techniques.
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls or similar industrial automation systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of fabrication processes such as stamping presses, press brake machines, CNC milling machines, lathes, and other industrial equipment.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, shop math, and GD&T principles for quality control.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently.
- Experience handling materials safely with proper tooling and materials handling techniques; forklift certification is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail; capable of interpreting technical documents accurately.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating within a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
