Full Job Description

Do you have a passion for creating meaningful, interactive STEM learning experiences? As the Education Program Coordinator at the Discovery Center of Springfield, you’ll step into a role designed for growth. This leadership role puts you at the heart of public programming, where you’ll inspire learners of all ages, strengthen community connections, and guide a team of enthusiastic STEM instructors.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the research, development, delivery, and evaluation of public programs, workshops, group bookings, and outreach lessons
Coordinate logistics for formal and informal programs, including Summer of Science Camps, School Day Out programs, distance learning, and educational events
Supervise and mentor STEM instructors, volunteers, and interns
Serve as lead instructor and presenter for field trips, homeschool programs, scout groups, assemblies, and professional development sessions
Design standards-aligned, interactive STEM activities for diverse audiences
Collaborate with the Marketing team on marketing and promotional content
Collect and analyze participant feedback to support continuous program improvement
Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and community partners
Oversee care and organization of program spaces, materials, and equipment
Work with the Vice President of Education to recruit, interview, hire, and train program staff.
Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Uphold program safety, inclusivity, and positive learning environments
Maintain clear, timely communication and program documentation
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Strong presentation skills; ability to engage large and small audiences.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
Proficiency with technology for curriculum design, instruction, and data collection.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Embody the Discovery Center’s mission, vision, and values.
Maintain a positive, professional, and enthusiastic demeanor.
Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for all learners.
Communicate with tact, diplomacy, and clarity.
Stay current with emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Balance independent work and teamwork.
Be adaptable and resourceful in a nonprofit environment.

Typical work hours are Mon-Fri 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, with occasional night or weekend work required. Full job description available upon request after application.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
