Full Job Description

Obie Hospitality is seeking an experienced and driven Sales Manager to join the commercial team supporting our two boutique properties in the heart of Downtown Eugene. This role is responsible for executing group sales strategy, building a qualified pipeline, and converting business across group room nights and event revenue. The Sales Manager reports directly to the Area Director of Sales.

The ideal candidate brings at least two years of hotel sales experience, a sales mentality, and the organizational discipline to manage a high-volume pipeline independently. This is an on-site role; remote work is not available.

Key Responsibilities

Group Sales & Pipeline Development

Own the group sales pipeline: prospect, qualify, propose, negotiate, and close group room block and business across both properties.
Conduct consistent, independent outreach through cold calls, outside sales visits, site inspections, and digital prospecting in alignment with quarterly action plans and department revenue goals.
Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned market segments in collaboration with the Area Director of Sales.
Actively participate in community organizations, local networking events, and industry associations to build brand visibility and drive referral business.
Maintain an active and organized pipeline in the property management and sales systems, providing accurate forecasting data.

Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain long-term relationships with meeting planners, corporate event coordinators, third-party agencies, and local organizations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up, ensuring a seamless client experience.
Respond promptly and professionally to all inbound leads, RFPs, and client inquiries.
Manage client expectations proactively across the full event lifecycle, coordinating closely with operations and front office teams.

Group & Event Coordination

Prepare proposals, contracts, assist with group resumes, and related documentation accurately and on schedule.
Conduct site visits and pre-event walkthroughs, providing on-site support as needed during group arrivals and events.
Propose creative solutions to enhance the group and event experience and differentiate the properties within the Eugene market.

Administrative & Reporting

Maintain accurate records in the PMS and sales tracking systems; update pipeline, lost business, and pace reports as required.
Contribute to the development and execution of quarterly sales action plans in partnership with the Area Director of Sales.
Attend all required sales meetings, revenue strategy meetings, and property leadership meetings.
Prepare and submit sales activity reports, follow-up logs, and other administrative outputs as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 2 years of hotel sales experience preferred, at least 1 year experience required; group and event sales experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding individual revenue and activity goals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional presentation and proposal writing ability.
Proficiency with hotel PMS, sales systems, and standard productivity tools; ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms.
Experience with office administration, contract preparation, and event coordination is advantageous.
Ability to manage a self-directed workload, prioritize competing deadlines, and operate with a high degree of independence.
Flexibility to accommodate occasional evening and weekend engagements as required by business needs.
