Landscape Construction Foreman

Position Overview
The Foreman is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day execution of assigned projects in the field. This position is critical to ensuring that our outdoor construction and landscaping projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Alpine Outdoor Living’s quality standards.
The Foreman leads by example on the job site—actively performing installation and construction work while supervising and directing 1–2 crew members as assigned. You are our primary eyes and ears in the field, responsible for workmanship, productivity, job site organization, and clear communication with the Project Manager.
This role is best suited for an experienced installer/operator who is confident across most of the services we offer and requires minimal training.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Execution & Leadership
- Take full responsibility for the installation and labor execution of assigned projects
- Read and interpret plans, scopes of work, and job specifications
- Ensure work is completed correctly, efficiently, and to company quality standards
- Lead, direct, and support 1–2 crew members on-site
- Maintain job site organization, cleanliness, and safety
- Identify and proactively communicate potential issues, changes, or risks
Construction & Installation Work
The Foreman is expected to be highly proficient and hands-on in most of the following:
- Basic excavation and grading
- Operation of skid steers, mini-excavators, and related equipment
- Retaining walls (boulder, block, CMU, and segmental systems)
- Paver patios, walkways, and hardscape installation
- Concrete preparation (base prep, form work, reinforcement, coordination)
- Trenching and pipe laying
- Irrigation and sprinkler system installation
- Planting, sod installation, mulch, decorative rock, and soil prep
- Weed fabric, edging, and landscape finishes
- Outdoor lighting installation
- General landscape and outdoor construction tasks
Equipment & Job Site Management
- Safely operate and maintain equipment and tools
- Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Protect client property and existing site features
- Maintain material control and minimize waste
Communication & Reporting
- Report directly to the Project Manager
- Provide:
- Regular progress updates
- Job site photos
- Material requests and scheduling needs
- Notifications of delays, issues, or scope changes
- Assist with job closeout, punch lists, and warranty items
Additional Duties (As Assigned)
- Snow removal operations during winter months
- Equipment and yard maintenance
- Warranty work and service calls
- Smaller one-off projects
- Required trainings and safety meetings
Schedule & Work Expectations
- Peak Season (April – October):
- Frequent overtime expected
- Fast-paced, high-production environment
- Slower Months:
- Work continues year-round; schedules may slow slightly depending on weather and workload
- Guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week, even when weather limits projects
- When weather permits, crews are expected to work normal project schedules
- Work may include maintenance, snow removal, training, or shop/yard tasks
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Pay: $30–$38 per hour (based on experience)

Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in landscape installation and outdoor construction
- Strong equipment operation skills (skid steer, excavator, etc.)
- Strong work ethic and ability to take ownership of assigned projects
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- High attention to detail and quality
- Physically capable of demanding outdoor work in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or directing small crews
- Experience across a wide range of hardscape and landscape services
- Ability to read plans and layout work accurately
- Strong communication skills
- Safety-conscious mindset
