Joining the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Plant Maintenance Engineer at the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) – St Cloud offers a stable career focused on improving the well-being of all Minnesota as while maintaining critical infrastructure.
This position exists to efficiently perform required maintenance on all refrigeration, cooling, heating, and temperature-controlled systems in the buildings with the assistance of the incarcerated work crew(s). Provide assistance to other building trades as needed as well as that of the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

Current licensure in Minnesota as a First Class B Boiler Operator. (NOTE: Applicants with current licensure in Minnesota as a Second Class B Boiler Operator may be considered for a provisional appointment until obtaining licensure as a First Class Boiler Operator)
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial driver's license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance. The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
