Practice Marketing Director Job Description

The Marketing Director is an executive-level role responsible for owning and driving all strategic marketing and growth initiatives at STL Fertility. This leader will build and manage our physician referral program, oversee digital and patient-facing marketing, and serve as the primary driver of new patient acquisition. The role reports directly to practice leadership and carries performance-based compensation tied to new patient volume, referral growth, and other key practice KPIs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who also executes with urgency, and who understands how to market with empathy and sensitivity while delivering measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and execute internal and external marketing strategies that drive new patient appointments, create engagement with referring providers, and fuel long-term practice growth.

· Oversee the existing Relationship Manager responsible for managing referral relationships; executing social media campaigns and running patient events

· Manage the practice’s digital presence including website updates, email campaigns, social media, paid advertising, and online reputation management

· Create and oversee patient-focused content that is educational, compassionate, and aligned with the practice’s brand and voice

· Coordinate marketing campaigns promoting fertility services, physicians, patient events, webinars, and community initiatives

· Overseas and directs the physician referral development program

· Track and analyze marketing performance metrics, patient lead sources, and campaign effectiveness

· Identify new opportunities for patient acquisition, partnerships, and community engagement

· Maintain and grow a referral database; track conversion rates from referring provider sources and report on referral pipeline to practice leadership

· Plan and oversee provider-facing events, dinners, and educational opportunities (e.g., CME events) designed to strengthen OB/GYN and specialist referral relationships

· Own and manage the marketing budget, allocating resources across referral development, digital channels, events, and PR to maximize return on growth investment

· Collaborate closely with physicians, leadership, clinical staff, and external vendors

· Become a subject matter expert on healthcare marketing trends, fertility industry developments, and patient engagement best practices

Qualifications

· 10+ years of marketing experience, preferably in healthcare, medical practice, wellness, or related service industries

· Experience working in entrepreneurial, high-growth, or small-team environments

· Proven ability to manage projects independently and execute with minimal oversight

· Strong written communication and content development skills

· Experience with digital marketing, social media, email marketing, and basic analytics/reporting

· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

· Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on implementation

· Professional, compassionate, and patient-centric communication style

· Experience working with physicians or healthcare providers is strongly preferred

· Demonstrated experience running a B2B or provider-facing referral development program, including outreach to physicians, specialist networks, or other healthcare referral sources

· Preferred Qualifications

· Fertility, women’s health, healthcare, or medical practice marketing experience

· Experience with CRM systems, patient engagement platforms, or marketing automation tools

· Event planning or community outreach experience

· Understanding of referral-based healthcare marketing

· Digital marketing is systematized with consistent reporting, and the practice’s online presence and reputation are actively managed

· Leadership feels confident delegating all marketing and growth decisions to this person, knowing they will execute with both strategy and accountability

· Referring physicians know and trust STL Fertility by name — and say so when asked why they refer

· The marketing budget is well-managed, growth KPIs are being hit, and this leader is earning their performance bonus
