Are you outgoing, dependable, comfortable on a microphone, and good at keeping a crowd entertained?
Go Local FXBG is looking for a fun and reliable Trivia Host & Event Coordinator to help create and host our weekly Trivia for a Cause events on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Trivia for a Cause brings people together for a fun night of trivia while spotlighting local nonprofits and helping them raise awareness and funds. You will play an important role in making each event organized, entertaining, and welcoming.
This is not just a hosting position. You will also help with preparing trivia questions and completing basic behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the events running smoothly. We will provide training, templates, and the tools needed to learn the process.
Schedule
This position requires consistent availability on:
Tuesday evenings
Wednesday evenings
Setup begins at 5:00 p.m.
Trivia runs from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
** Some cleanup and event wrap-up may be required after trivia**
Compensation
This position pays $100 per event.
The event rate covers:
Trivia preparation and creation
Pre-event administrative tasks
Event setup
Hosting the 6:00–8:00 p.m. trivia event
Scoring and event coordination
Cleanup and post-event wrap-up
A host who works both weekly events may earn approximately $200 per week, depending on the event schedule.
What You’ll Do
Before the Event
- Help create and prepare trivia questions
- Review trivia rounds for accuracy, variety, and difficulty
- Add questions and answers to the provided trivia format
- Prepare presentation slides and scoring materials
- Review information about the featured nonprofit and event sponsors
- Communicate with the Go Local FXBG team about event details
- Arrive at the venue by approximately 5:00 p.m.
During the Event
- Set up the laptop, trivia presentation, microphone, and event materials
- Welcome guests and explain how the game works
- Host trivia using a microphone
- Read questions clearly and confidently
- Keep the crowd engaged and the event moving
- Score answer sheets and maintain accurate team scores
- Make announcements about Go Local FXBG, the featured nonprofit, sponsors, raffles, and prizes
-Handle minor event changes or issues professionally
- Create a positive and welcoming experience for every guest
After the Event
- Announce winners and distribute prizes
- Help clean up and organize event materials
- Save scores, notes, and other necessary information
- Report any event issues or follow-up needs to the Go Local FXBG team
- Help prepare for the next scheduled trivia event
Training Provided
You do not need previous experience creating trivia.
Go Local FXBG will provide training on:
- How to create strong trivia questions
- How to organize trivia rounds
- How to use the trivia presentation and scoring system
- How to host the event from start to finish
- How to make nonprofit and sponsor announcements
- How to complete the required behind-the-scenes tasks
We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, follow the established process, and bring their own personality to the event.
You May Be a Great Fit If You Are
- Friendly, energetic, and comfortable speaking in front of groups
- Confident using a microphone
- Comfortable interacting with a crowd
- Creative and interested in writing trivia questions
- Dependable and able to arrive on time
- Organized and able to manage multiple event responsibilities
- Comfortable using basic computer programs and presentation software
- Able to think on your feet
- Interested in local nonprofits, community events, and the Fredericksburg region
- Available consistently on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings
- Experience in hosting, entertainment, teaching, customer service, restaurants, theater, public speaking, or event coordination is helpful but not required.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Their own reliable laptop computer
- Reliable transportation to event locations
- Consistent Tuesday and Wednesday evening availability
- The ability to arrive by approximately 5:00 p.m.
- Comfort speaking and making announcements on a microphone
- Basic computer skills
- The ability to complete trivia preparation before each event
- Strong communication and dependability
Go Local FXBG will provide the event format, training, microphone and audio equipment, trivia templates, and other required event materials.

Go Local FXBG is a Fredericksburg-area nonprofit focused on creating opportunities for local youth, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and underserved community members.
Through events like Trivia for a Cause, we bring residents together, spotlight organizations doing meaningful work, and create fun ways for the community to support local causes throughout Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and the surrounding region.
