Crawford Carpentry LLC is looking for a dependable, hard-working person to join our residential remodeling and repair operation.
We handle a wide variety of projects, including carpentry, flooring, doors and trim, drywall, painting, decks and porches, cabinetry, repairs, punch-list work, rental and presale improvements, and larger remodeling projects. Because our work varies from day to day, we're looking for someone who is comfortable doing more than one type of construction work and is willing to learn.
This is a hands-on position. You will be working directly alongside the owner and will be expected to contribute to getting jobs completed efficiently, correctly, and to a high standard.
What You'll Be Doing
Typical work may include:
- Residential carpentry and remodeling
- Installing doors, trim, baseboard, casing, and other finish carpentry
- Flooring installation and removal
- Deck, porch, stair, railing, and exterior repairs
- Cabinet and vanity installation
- Drywall repair and finishing
- Interior and exterior painting
- Demolition and jobsite preparation
- General home repairs and punch-list work
- Loading, unloading, and transporting tools and materials
- Keeping jobsites organized and clean
- Assisting with material pickup and job preparation
- Working independently on appropriate tasks as experience and ability allow
What We're Looking For
Construction or remodeling experience is strongly preferred, but work ethic, dependability, common sense, and willingness to learn are extremely important.
The right person should:
- Show up when expected and be ready to work
- Work hard without needing constant supervision
- Take pride in the quality of their work
- Follow instructions and pay attention to details
- Be willing to learn unfamiliar tasks
- Be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in Florida conditions
- Be able to safely use common hand and power tools
- Be able to perform the physical requirements of residential construction work
- Treat customers, their homes, and their property with respect
- Help maintain a clean and professional jobsite
- Communicate when there is a problem instead of hiding mistakes
- Understand that construction schedules can change based on weather, job conditions, material availability, and customer needs
We are not looking for someone who needs a perfectly predictable day-to-day schedule. Some days may run longer than expected, jobs change, and the nature of residential remodeling requires flexibility.
At the same time, we value reliability and will communicate scheduling as clearly as reasonably possible.
Experience
Experience in residential construction, remodeling, maintenance, carpentry, or a related trade is preferred.
You do not need to know everything.
Someone with moderate experience, mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to improve may be a better fit than someone with years of experience who is unreliable or unwilling to learn.
Applicants with strong finish-carpentry or remodeling experience are especially encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to reliably report to jobsites in our service area
- Ability to safely lift and carry construction materials and equipment
- Comfortable working from ladders and performing normal construction-related physical tasks
- Dependable attendance
- Professional behavior around customers and occupied homes
- Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions
Having your own basic hand tools is a plus, but not necessarily required depending on experience.
Schedule
This is construction work, and the schedule is based on active projects.
Applicants need to have reasonable flexibility regarding start times, end times, and daily job locations. If you require a rigid schedule or frequently have limitations on when you can work, this position is probably not a good fit.
