We're Hiring: Survey Crew Chief & Instrument Person— mainly Illinois, but also traveling to Iowa, Oklahoma, & Texas
Delta Field Services (DFS) is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief with a strong background in Boundary Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Renewable Energy Projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive field experience, leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of survey procedures, data collection methodologies, and project execution from initial control establishment through final deliverables.

Required Experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
Strong working knowledge of:
· Boundary surveying principles
· ALTA/NSPS Standards
· Public Land Survey System (PLSS)
· Easement and Right-of-Way Surveys
· Renewable Energy Surveying
· Topographic Surveys
· Project Control
Demonstrated experience supporting:
· Utility-Scale Solar Projects
· Wind Energy Projects
· Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
· Transmission Line Projects
· Substation Projects
Experience locating and recovering section corners and controlling large-scale survey projects.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead and manage survey field crews in the execution of:
· Boundary Surveys
· ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
· Topographic Surveys
· Route and Corridor Surveys
· Construction Staking
· As-Built Surveys
· Control Surveys
Perform and supervise:
· Monument recovery and evidence collection
· Boundary retracement surveys
· Section and quarter section breakdowns
· GPS Static, RTK, and Network RTK observations
· Total Station data collection
· Leveling operations
· Establish and maintain survey control networks utilizing GPS and conventional survey methods.
· Interpret deeds, plats, easements, title commitments, legal descriptions, and survey records.
· Collect accurate field data and maintain complete field documentation.
· Coordinate with Project Managers, Licensed Surveyors, CAD Technicians, and Clients to ensure project success.
· Ensure compliance with company safety standards and client requirements.
· Maintain survey equipment and company vehicles.
· Travel as required to support renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
· Ability to travel and work extended hours when project demands require.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
· Ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 50 pounds.
· Must be able to pass random drug screenings (not sure how to properly say this)
Experience with:
o Trimble Equipment
o Trimble Access
o PLSS Boundary and ALTAs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Strong understanding of boundary law and survey evidence evaluation.
· Ability to interpret title commitments and Schedule B exceptions.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and lead field personnel.
· Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
· Experience working directly with clients, landowners, and project stakeholders.
