This position oversees the daily operations of the Stevens Point Area Visitor Center and Gift Shop, and serves as the welcoming face for visitors/potential visitors exploring what the Stevens Point Area has to offer. Additional responsibilities include clerical, administrative, and operational duties of SPACVB and the organizations it serves. What you'll do!
As the Visitor Services Manager, you will be the welcoming face and operational backbone of the Stevens Point Area Visitor Center and Gift Shop. You will be responsible for active promotion of the Stevens Point Area through fielding visitor inquiries and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role blends customer service, retail management, and administrative support. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Visitor Services Lead
- Greet and assist with all visitor inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, to provide knowledgeable information on the Stevens Point Area. Furthermore, oversee data entry of all visitor inquiries.
- Manage brochure racks, including the ordering, printing, and maintenance of an ample supply of local, state, and niche brochures and guides.
- Apply for Wisconsin Department of Tourism Travel Information Center grants.
- Manage and organize the storage room and basement storage on a routine basis.
- Serve as primary backup for Visitor Center and Gift Shop coverage when part-time staffing is unavailable.
Gift Shop Manager
- Supervise, train, and assist interns/part-time employees in customer service, store maintenance, and product promotions.
- Plan and execute Gift Shop marketing promotions to better promote the store, product lines, and service within the store.
- Maintain inventory, ensure stocking, implement purchasing plans, and maintain contact with suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting goals.
- Manage sales reports and cash flow, including routine sales reports and tax reports.
Marketing Support
- Update digital displays and community event calendars on a routine basis.
- Support website changes and seasonal content refreshes, including but not limited to the following: stevenspointarea.com, centralwisconsin.com, destinationswisconsin.com, travelwisconsin.com, northcentralwisconsin.com, and discoverwisconsin.com.
- Utilize CRM/CMS software to assist with database cleansing and updates.
- Assist with marketing initiatives and special projects, as assigned by the Marketing Manager and/or Executive Director.
Office Operations and Building Logistics
- Oversee day-to-day operations and basic cleaning of the Visitor Center and Gift Shop, including maintenance and repair.
- Responsible for daily mail, mailings, and collateral fulfillment.
- Maintain office equipment and coordinate with vendors for contracts, repairs, and services.
- Serve as lead contact for the building to keep the Visitor Center running smoothly with attention to detail and proactive problem-solving.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assist with training interns/part-time staff on specific projects and tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate is a friendly, organized, and community-minded professional who thrives in a people-first environment. To succeed in this role, you should:
- Be well-versed in the Stevens Point Area and passionate about sharing it with others.
- Four years of experience and/or education in customer service, tourism, hospitality, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks.
- Able to adjust to changing industry standards, office conditions, and policy.
- Possess strong communication skills and a knack for problem-solving.
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and CRM systems (like Simpleview) is a plus.
