Overview
Join our dynamic oral surgery practice as a Front and Back Office Dental / Oral Surgery Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting both administrative (front office) and clinical (back office) functions. You will be instrumental in creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients while assisting with various oral surgery procedures, including advanced exodontia (extractions), impacted wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting, dental implant placement under IV anesthesia. Your expertise will help streamline patient flow, maintain accurate medical records, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and aseptic technique.

Duties

Greet patients warmly and manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Curve Dental to ensure efficient patient flow
Verify patient insurance information, update medical records, and ensure HIPAA compliance for confidentiality and privacy standards
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring proper sterilization and aseptic technique
Assist the oral surgeon during procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and monitoring vital signs as needed during chairside surgical assisting.
Take dental X-rays using digital imaging technology, including 3D scanners when applicable, while maintaining safety protocols
Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and dental terminology to promote understanding of their treatments
Maintain accurate medical documentation, including coding for billing purposes and detailed records of procedures performed
Support front desk operations by answering phones, managing appointment confirmations, processing payments, and handling patient inquiries with professionalism

Qualifications

Required- experience in dental assisting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Curve Dental, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly preferred
Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a dental setting
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about procedures and post-care instructions
Certification or training in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is advantageous
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
