Grooming Assistant – The Spotted Dog
The Spotted Dog in Oakland, NJ is looking for a dog-loving individual to join our crew as a grooming assistant. We love dogs here at The Spotted Dog and are lucky to be around dogs all day.

The grooming assistant is responsible to properly prepare, bathe and comb dogs using practices that minimizing stress. Bather is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the grooming area of the store.
Experience a plus but NOT necessary...we are willing to train in all aspects of the job including: bathing, drying, brushing; nail trimming, tooth brushing.
Job Duties:
- Performs bath functions as requested by the client and described on the groom card.
- Trims nails, brushes teeth, and cleans ears in a safe manner and as trained.
- Bathe, dry and brush out dog as instructed.
- Bathing stations should be kept clean between bathing, tools cleaned and ready for the next use.
- Water spills and any other safety risks should be promptly attended to, mopped or cleaned up.
- Follow all safety rules.
- Ask for assistance immediately if a pet demonstrates unusual stress.
- Tubs, holding cages and all services should be washed/disinfected and ready for the next day’s use before shift’s end.
- Keep the front desk informed about pets that are ready for pick-up.
- Communication is key- you must be able to work as a team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Hours vary and may require working weekends and holidays.
Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs frequently.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.49 - $16.00 per hour
