Full Job Description

Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer

Location: Puyallup, WA (In-Person)
Position: Full-Time, Year-Round
Starting Salary: $52,000–62,000 DOE

At Aim Accounting, we're here to provide the guidance, support, and expertise business owners need so they never have to navigate it alone.

We are a growing team of dedicated accounting professionals providing bookkeeping, payroll, consulting, and income tax services to individuals and small businesses throughout the region. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with clients, values accuracy, and wants to build a long-term career in public accounting.

No Income Tax Experience? We'll Train You.

Prior income tax preparation experience is not required.

You'll receive hands-on training from our Income Tax Manager and be mentored throughout your first tax season as you prepare and manage your own portfolio of personal income tax clients. While you'll be responsible for preparing personal income tax returns, our Income Tax Manager will continue overseeing business income tax returns.

Coming from Banking or Financial Services?

Strong bookkeeping experience is preferred, but we're also interested in candidates with banking or financial services experience who are eager to learn.

Many of the skills that make someone successful in banking also translate well to public accounting. If you've built relationships with business owners, enjoy working with financial information, and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you. We'll provide the training and mentorship to help you build your bookkeeping and income tax preparation skills.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of approximately 15–20 business bookkeeping clients.
Perform monthly bookkeeping and account reconciliations.
Prepare financial statements and assist with payroll and excise tax compliance.
Communicate directly with bookkeeping and tax clients in a professional, timely manner.
Prepare and manage your own portfolio of personal income tax clients during tax season.
Participate in consulting projects and special assignments.
Support fellow team members during quarterly filing periods and other busy seasons.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping, banking, commercial lending, or other financial services experience working directly with financial records or business clients.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Clear and professional communication skills
Organized and able to manage deadlines across multiple clients
A proactive mindset and willingness to ask questions, learn, and continuously improve.

Preferred:

Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop.
Experience in a public accounting or multi-client environment. Candidates with experience in private accounting, banking, or financial services who are excited to learn public accounting are encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with payroll processing and payroll tax filings.
