POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEER - TECHNICAL ADVISOR, Substation
Job Description:
Work on behalf of the world’s largest Renewable Energy Developers as a Technical Advisor. The Technical Advisor provides part-time, client specific technical advisory support to Substation and Transmission projects. This role delivers experience based, consultative input on technical and commissioning related matters to support informed client decision making. The position is strictly advisory in nature and does not include professional engineering services, engineering of record responsibilities, or design authority.
Location: Near Las Vegas, NV
Pay: $75/hr-$85/hr (hourly, non-exempt)

Reports to:
Company Project Manager. Day-to-day project direction may be provided by designated site leadership, client representatives, or project management personnel.
Preferred Background
- Experience supporting energy, infrastructure, or technical projects in an advisory or consulting capacity
- Prior experience working with owner‑side or developer‑side project teams
- Familiarity with commissioning, technical execution, or operational readiness discussions
- Experience operating within clearly defined, risk‑managed scopes
Required Skillsets
- Demonstrated technical expertise relevant to energy or infrastructure projects
- Ability to provide experience‑based technical guidance in a non‑authoritative, advisory role
- Strong professional judgment and understanding of defined role boundaries
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to document time and expenses in accordance with administrative requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical advisory and consultative support to Substation and Transmission on assigned projects
- Offer subject‑matter guidance on commissioning and technical execution questions upon request
- Support client decision‑making through experience‑based technical input
- Participate in technical discussions or reviews strictly in an advisory capacity
- Submit timesheets and approved expense documentation consistent with Company procedures
- Maintain compliance with defined scope, liability limitations, and insurance constraints
- Review structural and engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, site investigation plans, and laboratory testing reports, and provide advisory comments and recommendations
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods on construction jobsites.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain and work in varied weather conditions typical of outdoor construction environments.
- Ability to distinguish color‑coded wiring where required for safety‑critical electrical work, with reasonable accommodation where feasible.
- Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all site safety protocols.

Pay: $75.00 - $85.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 55.0 per week
