About DFAC Swimming
DFAC Swimming is a USA Swimming club based in DeForest, Wisconsin, proudly serving the Greater Madison area. Since the early 1980s, we've been committed to developing swimmers of all abilities—from those just beginning their competitive journey to athletes competing at the state, zone, and national levels.
Our growing team of more than 80 swimmers is built on exceptional coaching, strong coach-to-swimmer ratios, and a family-oriented culture where hard work, character, and teamwork come first.
Our athletes continue to raise the bar. Most recently, DFAC was crowned the 2026 Wisconsin Division III 12 & Under Long Course State Champion, a testament to our commitment to athlete development, coaching excellence, and the supportive community that makes our club special.
Key Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Head Coach.
- Assist in leading age group training groups, providing structured coaching focused on technique, conditioning, race skills, and athlete development.
- Execute daily practices aligned with training goals and swimmer progression.
- Foster a positive team culture emphasizing effort, accountability, sportsmanship, and character development.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement while serving as a positive role model on deck.
- Maintain a safe training environment and enforce all Safe Sport policies, team code of conduct, and facility rules.
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff regarding progress, expectations, and team activities.
- Attend swim meets as assigned, including occasional weekend competitions.
- Participate in team functions, club development initiatives, and community-building activities.
- Maintain professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct at all times.
About the Training Groups
This position will primarily coach swimmers within our developmental and age group program, with opportunities to assist with other training groups based on experience and club needs.
Certifications & Requirements
Must obtain and maintain all required USA Swimming coach certifications, including:
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches
- CPR/AED and First Aid
- Athlete Protection Training / Safe Sport compliance
- Required background screening
Lifeguarding certification preferred (alternative training may be considered).
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of competitive swimming required.
- Prior coaching experience with swimmers of varying ages and abilities is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with youth swimmers and age-group development.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Passion for mentoring swimmers both athletically and personally.
- High ethical standards and commitment to positive athlete development.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented coaching staff.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time, hourly position.
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week depending on season.
- Primarily afterschool/evening practices year-round.
- Occasional weekend swim meets.
Work Location
In person — DeForest Area High School Community Pool.

Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience, certifications, and coaching background.
