Job Summary
Whiteford Kenworth is seeking an experienced and motivated Body Shop Manager to lead the daily operations of our Body Shop and Service Shop at our Perrysburg location. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing shop productivity, quality standards, customer satisfaction, employee development, safety compliance, and financial performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service while fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Body Shop and Service Shop, ensuring efficient workflow, quality repairs, and exceptional customer service
- Lead, coach, and support technicians and department staff to promote productivity, safety, teamwork, and professional development
- Schedule work and assign jobs based on technician skill level, certifications, experience, and workload demands
- Monitor shop workflow and production to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule
- Ensure department processes are consistently followed to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction
- Review technician findings, repair recommendations, repair orders, and work orders to ensure accurate estimates, repair plans, proper labor documentation, and efficient technician time management
- Communicate with customers, insurance representatives, vendors, fleet managers, and internal departments regarding repair estimates, approvals, supplemental repairs, repair status, completion timelines, and resolution of concerns
- Manage the estimate approval process and ensure all labor, parts, materials, warranty, and sublet charges are accurately documented and billed
- Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure parts are ordered, received, billed correctly, and available to support shop productivity
- Oversee warranty administration processes to ensure claims are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of departmental transactions, customer communications, and operational metrics
- Monitor and maintain shop equipment, tools, and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Promote and enforce all company policies, safety procedures, environmental regulations, and housekeeping standards
- Develop and manage departmental goals, budgets, expenses, and key performance indicators in alignment with company objectives
- Analyze shop performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction
- Conduct department meetings and facilitate regular communication regarding safety, performance expectations, company initiatives, and operational updates
- Address employee concerns, customer issues, and operational challenges in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and positive representation of the company at all times
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled hours necessary to meet customer and business needs
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a heavy-duty truck dealership, commercial vehicle repair facility, collision repair center, transportation service operation, or related industry is required. Candidates with management experience in agriculture, construction equipment, fleet maintenance, or similar service environments will also be considered
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and hold employees accountable
- Thorough understanding of body shop operations, repair processes, estimating procedures, and workflow management
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to analyze operational performance and make sound business decisions
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
- Proficiency with computer systems, service management software, and Microsoft Office applications
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb throughout the workday
- Regularly move between office, shop, yard, and customer-facing areas
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to enter and exit commercial vehicles and access elevated work areas using ladders or steps
- Frequently use hands and fingers to operate computers, mobile devices, office equipment, and shop-related tools
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically
- Visual acuity sufficient to review repair orders, inspect vehicle damage, evaluate repair quality, and operate a computer
- Ability to work in a shop environment that may include exposure to moving mechanical equipment, vehicle traffic, chemicals, paint products, fumes, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures and noise levels
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
