Full Job Description

Summary

Haydan Consultants is currently hiring Construction Managers who will be the on-site representative of the NYC School Construction Authority to provide construction management oversight on projects located throughout the borough of Queens, NY. You will be a full-time employee of Haydan, but work day-to-day with our client, in support of the owner, the NYC SCA. You will be expected to travel to job sites (schools) once assigned projects, and on the days when you are not working onsite, be present in the client’s office located in Long Island City, NY. The expectation is for 8 hours per day, and the hours of this position can vary between normal first shift hours and evening as there is the occasional need to be onsite after 4PM to monitor a Contractor who is unable to work during school hours.

Responsibilities:

Provide the management, administration, and coordination of construction activities of the contractor.
Ensure the quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants, vendors, etc.
Make decisions and take action in a timely manner to expedite the timely completion of the construction process.
Identify mistakes and errors in design and construction before they can be extensively incorporated into the project or as early in the construction process as possible.
Responsibilities are varied and include coordinative problem solving and managerial functions of these projects.

Duties:

Full construction lifecycle construction management from onboarding the contractor, reviewing their project plan and schedule through to delivery and handover of the jobsite back to the SCA.
Make decisions on phasing and scheduling of projects. Prepare and/or ensure preparation of schedules for planning, design and construction. Monitor schedules and take appropriate actions to ensure that project is completed on schedule and within approved cost limitations.
Provide ongoing interface with contractors, construction managers, local school personnel and Senior Project Officers on project issues.
Weekly and monthly progress reporting, payment requisition review, and evaluation.
Participate in the development and issuance of project procedures and policies.
Resolve issues and problems raised in field reports made by architects and construction management staff.
Provide oversight and mentorship regarding change orders, interpretation of contract documents, shop drawing submittals/approvals and other technical matters as required to ensure a structurally sound, code compliant and aesthetic facility.
