CNC Setup Machinist

Pay: $24.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience
Location: East Syracuse, NY

A well-established, 100% employee-owned precision manufacturer in East Syracuse is seeking to directly hire an experienced CNC Setup Machinist to join its growing team.

This is not an entry-level operator position. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving machining challenges, takes pride in precision work, and can independently set up CNC milling machines, optimize tooling, troubleshoot production issues, and produce quality parts that meet demanding customer specifications.

What You'll Do

Set up and operate CNC milling machines
Install tooling, fixtures, and workholding
Set tool offsets and work offsets
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and machining specifications
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
Make machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
Troubleshoot tooling, setup, surface finish, and machining issues
Work closely with quality, engineering, and production teams to maintain workflow
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

What You Bring

CNC setup experience required
Experience setting up CNC milling machines
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers and micrometers
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Experience working to close tolerances
Dependable, detail-oriented, and quality focused
Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Mazak machining centers
Horizontal and/or vertical machining center experience
Multi-axis machining experience
GD&T knowledge
Aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, or other precision manufacturing experience
Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, steel, or specialty alloys

Training Schedule

Monday-Friday
6:00 AM-2:30 PM

After Training

Choose the schedule that works best for you:

Monday-Friday (5 x 8-hour shifts), or
Monday-Thursday (4 x 10-hour shifts)
