Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. In this vital role, you will oversee a broad spectrum of accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. You will play a key part in maintaining adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements while fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence financial strategies and support organizational growth through expert financial management.

Responsibilities

Manage and oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC reporting standards, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other relevant regulations.
Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements and reports to support strategic decision-making.
Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain internal controls to safeguard confidential information and ensure adherence to accounting standards.
Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, securities law, and tax regulations.
Coordinate external audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance efforts while ensuring audit readiness.
Implement and optimize accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or other financial software to enhance efficiency.
Conduct financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support organizational goals.
Support international accounting activities as needed, ensuring compliance with global standards.

Experience

Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a strong background in technical accounting concepts such as GAAP, SEC reporting, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting.
Extensive knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls, and regulatory frameworks relevant to governmental or non-profit organizations.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial systems like Sage or Xero along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—particularly spreadsheets for data analysis.
Experience mentoring or leading teams within an accounting environment is highly desirable.
Familiarity with LIHTC programs or securities law is a plus; however, strong foundational knowledge in various regulatory requirements is essential.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality while maintaining high standards of compliance and accuracy.
Strong analytical skills with the capacity for financial report writing and interpretation that supports strategic planning initiatives.
