About Us:

The Community Law Program (CLP) is a non-profit civil legal aid organization committed to the principle of providing access to justice for all. Our mission is to empower the most vulnerable in our community through the provision of pro bono legal assistance and representation, education about legal rights and responsibilities, and community outreach. We have a small staff, and we serve a high volume of people each year. Additionally, we strive to maintain a collaborative work environment that focuses on doing good for the community while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Position Overview:

This is an entry-level staff attorney position, perfect for a new lawyer or lawyer looking for a new opportunity. We are not looking for years of experience or a specific resume. We are looking for the right person — someone coachable, driven, and genuinely passionate about family law and the people we serve. Here is what you will be doing:

Meet with clients and build attorney-client relationships with families under stress.
Develop case strategy and provide legal advice — with mentorship and support at every step.
Draft pleadings, motions, financial affidavits, and proposed orders, with detailed feedback from the supervising attorney.
Appear in Pinellas County circuit court, starting with supervision and building toward greater independence over time.
Manage your caseload from intake through final resolution using our case management system, with autonomy over cases.
Supervise and direct staff to assist you on day-to-day case tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate (JD), Florida Bar licensed and in good standing with the Bar; new admittees are welcome — if you just passed (or are waiting on results), apply now.
A commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services to the most vulnerable members of our community, with kindness and dignity.
Genuine desire to practice family law long-term.
Proactive in seeking guidance and engaging with feedback — you treat mentorship as a resource, not a formality.
Willing to work in a collaborative environment as a team player.
Proficiency in time management and timekeeping.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in legal aid services or other public interest setting
Any family law, litigation, clinic, or public interest experience.
Strong people skills and a calm, trustworthy presence with clients in difficult situations.
Comfort with numerical/financial analysis.
Familiarity with trauma-informed practices in client service.
