Job Summary

Position Title: Lead Pharmacy Technician & Operations Specialist
Department: Specialty Infusion Pharmacy Operations
Reports To: Pharmacy Manager / Director of Pharmacy
Location: 274 Commonwealth Drive, Suite C Greenville SC

Position Summary

Vital Care of Greenville is GROWING! We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty infusion team. Our mindset of being the BEST local infusion pharmacy starts with our team! The in-suite infusion rooms offer a private, boutique environment for our patients to relax in while receiving their infusion.

This individual will serve as the central coordinator for infusion scheduling while also supporting medication preparation for both in-suite and home infusion patients. The role requires strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance patient care needs with operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as primary point of contact for infusion scheduling, coordinating with patients, prescribers, and nursing staff.
Manage and optimize daily/weekly infusion schedules to ensure efficient resource utilization and minimal patient delays.
Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications in accordance with USP guidelines and company policies.
Accurately label, package, and document infusion medications for both in-suite and home administration.
Maintain appropriate inventory of infusion medications, supplies, and equipment; communicate shortages proactively.
Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and operations staff to ensure safe and timely patient care.
Support quality assurance initiatives, including documentation, compliance checks, and process improvements.
Provide excellent patient service through professional communication and responsiveness.

Leadership & Oversight

Serve as primary point of contact for infusion scheduling, coordinating with patients, prescribers, and nursing staff.

Qualifications

Active Pharmacy Technician license/certification (CPhT preferred).
Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience; infusion or sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; experience with scheduling systems is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both patients and healthcare professionals.
Commitment to accuracy, safety, and high-quality patient care.
Manage and optimize daily/weekly infusion schedules to ensure efficient resource utilization and minimal patient delays.

Maintain appropriate inventory of infusion medications, supplies, and equipment; communicate shortages proactively.

Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Act as the primary liaison between pharmacy staff, nursing, logistics, and other departments to ensure seamless workflow.

Operations Management

Coordinate daily workload assignments and staffing to meet patient care and delivery timelines.
Monitor inventory levels of infusion medications, supplies, and devices; oversee procurement and ensure cost-effective usage.
Support scheduling, workload balancing, and operational troubleshooting.
Assist in development and implementation of SOPs, quality assurance initiatives, and process improvement projects.

Patient Care & Service

Support pharmacists and clinical staff in timely and accurate order processing.
Ensure patient-focused service by helping coordinate infusion delivery schedules and addressing operational issues that impact patient care.
Escalate clinical concerns appropriately to the pharmacist-in-charge.
