Flux Core Structural Welder
Work Setting
Shop Position – Williamston, SC
Job Summary
RAI is seeking full-time, experienced Flux Core Structural Welders for our Williamston, SC location.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including wearing all proper PPE
- Operate a welding machine to join parts together, utilizing proper techniques for different joint types, positions, and thicknesses
- Clean, grind, and prepare metal to ensure proper weld penetration
- Accurately interpret drawings and prints to understand the required weld specifications, joint types, and positioning of components
- Measure and cut using power tools, plasma cutters, and oxy-fuel torches
- Visually inspect welds for defects like porosity, slag inclusions, and undercut
- Regularly clean and maintain welding equipment, including the wire feeder and power supply
- Must be able to pass a 3G weld test on 1” carbon plate with a backer bar
Education and Experience
- 3 – 5 years’ experience preferred
- Ability to pass an AWS weld test required
- Flux core welding experience required
- MIG and TIG experience preferred
- Stainless steel and aluminum experience a plus
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Day Shift Schedule: Typically 6am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays required. Overtime hours available.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely maneuver around various construction equipment and vehicles on an active construction site
- Regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
- Ability to climb temporary or permanent stairs and ladders
- Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, stoop, and reach regularly
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
