Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) provides compassionate, expert-level consulting services, educate patients on medication use and cost-effective options, and deliver essential clinical healthcare services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and medication therapy management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring medication safety through precise compounding, dispensing, and adherence to regulatory standards. As a mentor and collaborator, this position will also help train and support fellow pharmacy team members in a positive and professional environment.

Responsibilities

Medication Management:

Reviewing and interpreting physician orders for appropriateness (drug, dose, frequency, route, etc.).
Dispense medications accurately and provide patient counseling on proper medication use.
Maintain inventory management and compounding of medications as needed.

Patient Education and Counseling:

Providing medication counseling to patients on proper use, side effects, and adherence.
Educating patients about their conditions and how medications can help manage them.
Addressing patient questions and concerns about their medications.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to manage patient care and medication therapy.
Participating in interdisciplinary care teams and contributing to care plan development.
Communicating with patients and their families about medication-related issues.

Population Health Management:

Identifying and addressing medication-related needs of specific patient populations.
Promoting medication adherence and appropriate medication use.
Participating in public health initiatives related to medication management.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate patient records using EHR systems.
Participating in quality assurance activities to ensure safe and effective medication use.
Managing pharmacy inventory and ensuring proper medication storage and handling.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) with significant pharmacy leadership experience may be considered; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy preferred
Board Certification (e.g., BCPS, BCGP) or MBA/MPH in healthcare management is a plus
Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in New Jersey
Active pursuit of continuing education as required to maintain licensure and regulatory compliance
Prior experience as a Pharmacist-In-Charge or in a management role is highly preferred
Experience managing outpatient or ambulatory pharmacies preferred
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and pharmacy information systems.
Proficiency in inventory management, medication dispensing, and pharmaceutical care practices
Strong leadership, staff supervision, and team-building abilities
Experience in developing and implementing pharmacy programs
Knowledge of billing, insurance claims, and regulatory compliance related to pharmacy operations
Strong clinical knowledge and experience in ambulatory care or community pharmacy.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
Familiarity with the 340B Drug Pricing Program and other relevant regulations.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
