Summary/Objective
Schedule, coordinate and supervise production and workforce engaged in assigned project tasks, on a single or multiple construction projects.
Essential Functions
- Supervises a crew of up to 10 employees and prioritizes work
- Supervises assigned project work and liaises between engineering, estimating, and workforce to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
- Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily work schedule with General Superintendent and updates weekly schedule for the project.
- Reviews and understands the project contract and specifications to support job set up activities.
- Works with work crews, safety, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site.
- Forecasts the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
- Provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety, and schedule activities.
- Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
- Coordinates with internal and external departments to ensure all mandated inspections are completed within requested timeframes.
- Supports and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements.
- Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on jobsite.
- Supervises sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of Company values, policies, and strategic plan.
- Performs additional assignments per management’s direction.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Basic knowledge of administration and management. Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment.
· Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in highway and road construction and asphalt paving.
· Knowledge of equal opportunity and affirmative action principles and procedures for employment actions such as hiring, training and labor relations.
· Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills.
· The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong—to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.
· Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
· Strong mathematical abilities and the ability to remember words, numbers and other information. Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
· Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet).
· Advanced mechanical skills a plus.
· Ability to use a transit to establish grades and lay out projects.

· Valid California Drivers License
· A minimum of two to four years of related skill, knowledge or experience is needed for these occupations. Must include related on-the-job training and experience in asphalt paving and road construction practices.
· Experience and training must include methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
· High school degree or equivalent.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
