This position is designed as a starting role with a clear pathway to Assistant Manager within 6-12 months for the right candidate. Position Overview
As our Art & Administrative Assistant, you'll support daily studio operations while learning all aspects of running a successful art studio. This hands-on role offers comprehensive training in art instruction, customer service, studio management, and curriculum development. Reporting to the Studio Manager, you'll be mentored as you grow into leadership responsibilities.
Initial Responsibilities (Months 1-6)
Studio Support
- Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming studio space
- Prepare and organize teaching materials for classes, camps, and events
- Set up workspaces with appropriate materials, canvases, and tools
- Assist instructors during classes, helping students with techniques and inspiration
- Maintain studio cleanliness according to our safety and cleaning standards
- Arrange artwork displays in our studio gallery and window displays
Administrative Tasks
- Answer phone inquiries with enthusiasm and knowledge about our programs
- Process registrations and payments using our booking system
- Maintain accurate class rosters and attendance records
- Assist manager with event bookings and scheduling
- Help organize and maintain curriculum files and project examples
- Support social media content creation and posting
Learning & Development
- Shadow experienced instructors to learn teaching techniques
- Observe and assist with paint and sip classes, after-school programs, and private lessons
- Learn our curriculum and class structures
- Begin creating demonstration artwork for classes
- Develop knowledge of art supplies and inventory management
Growth Responsibilities (Months 6-12+)
As you demonstrate reliability, organizational skills, and teaching aptitude, you'll progressively take on:
Teaching
- Providing instruction for our after-school art program
- Teaching paint and sip public and private classes
- Conducting private art lessons
- Creating demonstration artwork and curriculum support materials
Management
- Managing art supply inventory
- Overseeing daily studio operations
- Leading the team in maintaining studio culture and standards
- Taking ownership of special projects and events
- Mentoring new team members
- Managing Social Media with support from the Studio Manager
Leadership
- Checking in with instructors, students, and parents about progress and satisfaction
- Problem-solving operational challenges independently
- Contributing to studio growth and development initiatives
What We're Looking For

- Basic proficiency in Google Drive/Docs
- Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram
Preferred (Can Be Developed On the Job):
- Background in art, art education, or fine arts
- Teaching or instruction experience
- Art portfolio (helpful but not required—we care more about your willingness to create and learn)
- Experience with Canva platform
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Sales or marketing experience

Schedule
- Starting hours: 18-20 hours/week guaranteed base

- Flexible scheduling with evening and weekend availability required
- Additional full-time hours available during our Summer Fine Art Program
Compensation
- Pay: $16-18 per hour
- Job Type: Part-time
- Growth potential: Opportunity to advance to Assistant Manager role with increased responsibilities and compensation within 6-12 months
