Job Overview
We are looking for a dependable, safety-minded CDL Drywall Boom Truck Operator / Delivery Team Lead to join our delivery team. This is a full-time position offering $25.00 per hour plus bonus potential. In addition to driving and operating the boom, this position serves as the lead person for the delivery crew, helping coordinate safe, efficient unloading and placement of drywall and other building materials at residential and commercial jobsites.
This is more than a driving position. The Team Lead is responsible for setting the tone for the delivery crew, communicating expectations, coordinating team lifting and material handling, and helping ensure every delivery is completed safely, accurately, and professionally. Our delivery team represents our company on every jobsite, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in protecting customer property and materials, taking care of equipment, and providing dependable service.
Experience operating a drywall boom, knuckle boom, crane, or similar material-handling equipment is strongly preferred.
Compensation & Bonus Opportunity
- $25.00 per hour base wage.
- Bonus potential in addition to hourly pay.
- Opportunity to increase total earnings through strong performance, reliability, safety, and productivity.
- Full-time, consistent work schedule.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the Team Lead for the delivery crew and provide clear direction at the yard and jobsite.
- Coordinate the crew during loading, unloading, boom placement, and material handling.
- Lead all team-lift activities and ensure heavy materials are handled using safe, coordinated lifting practices.
- Assign and communicate responsibilities to crew members before and during each delivery.
- Conduct a brief jobsite safety assessment before unloading begins and communicate hazards or special conditions to the crew.
- Help train and coach delivery team members on safe material handling, customer service, jobsite procedures, and company expectations.
- Maintain accountability for the delivery crew's safety, professionalism, productivity, and care of customer property.
- Communicate delivery issues, employee concerns, equipment problems, or jobsite incidents promptly to dispatch or management.
- Safely operate a commercial drywall boom truck and hydraulic boom.
- Deliver drywall and building materials to residential and commercial jobsites.
- Use the boom to safely place drywall at designated locations, including upper floors and elevated openings when conditions allow.
- Inspect delivery areas for power lines, unstable ground, structures, pedestrians, traffic, and other hazards before operating the boom.
- Properly position and stabilize the truck and use outriggers as required.
- Verify materials and quantities against delivery tickets before leaving the yard.
- Properly secure loads in accordance with DOT and company requirements.
- Protect materials and customer property from damage during delivery and unloading.
- Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Communicate with dispatch, customers, contractors, and jobsite personnel throughout the delivery process.
- Keep the assigned truck, boom, and equipment clean and in good working condition.
- Follow DOT regulations, company safety procedures, and safe material-handling practices.
- Assist with loading, staging, and other yard or delivery duties as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Valid CDL appropriate for the vehicle being operated; Class A preferred.
- Acceptable driving record and ability to meet DOT driver qualification requirements.
- Boom truck, drywall delivery, knuckle-boom, crane, or building-material delivery experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with hydraulic material-handling equipment is a plus.
- Ability to safely maneuver a large commercial vehicle in residential areas and active construction sites.
- Strong safety awareness and good judgment.
- Ability to lead a small delivery crew and communicate clear expectations.
- Willingness to take ownership of the team's safety, performance, and professionalism at the jobsite.
- Previous crew-lead, team-lead, or supervisory experience is preferred but not required for a candidate with strong leadership ability.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional attitude and good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a delivery and operations team.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, physically demanding position. Drywall is extremely heavy, and a typical pack may weigh approximately 150 pounds. Drywall and other heavy materials are handled as team lifts; employees are not expected to lift a 150-pound pack individually. Applicants must be able to regularly climb into and out of commercial vehicles and equipment; stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, push, and pull throughout the workday; and safely handle, guide, position, and move heavy drywall and building materials as part of a coordinated team. The Team Lead is responsible for helping ensure the crew uses proper lifting techniques and works together safely during material handling.
The position works outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites with uneven terrain, moving vehicles, equipment, dust, heat, cold, and rain.
Safety Comes First
We expect our drivers to work efficiently, but safety always comes before speed. Boom truck operators have the responsibility to stop or refuse a delivery or boom operation when jobsite conditions are unsafe.
Operators must maintain safe clearance from power lines and overhead hazards, properly stabilize equipment, follow equipment load limits, and protect customers, coworkers, the public, property, and company equipment.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
The right person is safe, dependable, careful, efficient, professional, and comfortable leading others. You should be able to take charge of a delivery crew, communicate clearly, solve problems at jobsites, work effectively with customers and contractors, and take ownership of your team, truck, and equipment.
If you have commercial driving experience and know how to safely operate a boom truck—or have related building-material delivery experience—we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today to join our delivery team and earn $25.00 per hour with additional bonus potential.
We are an equal opportunity employer and consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
