Take Ownership of the Shop Building the Future of Mobile Healthcare
B2 Medical designs and builds modular healthcare facilities that serve communities across the United States. As our company grows, we are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman / Lead Welder who can take full ownership of daily shop-floor operations.
This is not simply a senior welding position. It is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can organize people, maintain production momentum, enforce standards, solve problems, and run the shop without requiring constant direction from senior management.
The right candidate will be equally comfortable leading a production meeting, assigning work, reviewing drawings, holding team members accountable, and stepping onto the floor to weld, fabricate, fit, or assemble alongside the crew when needed.
The Primary Objective
Your responsibility will be to keep the shop operating safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining B2 Medical’s quality standards.
You will serve as the primary point of accountability for daily shop execution, allowing senior operations leadership to focus on company-wide planning, project coordination, and growth.
Success in this position requires initiative, urgency, sound judgment, technical credibility, and the ability to stay ahead of production needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of daily shop operations, production priorities, and workflow
- Review project schedules, drawings, material requirements, and staffing needs before work begins
- Assign work and provide clear direction to welders, fabricators, assemblers, and construction personnel
- Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities, expectations, and deadlines
- Monitor work throughout the day and adjust labor or priorities to keep projects moving
- Perform welding, fitting, cutting, framing, metal fabrication, and assembly work as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, weld symbols, and measurements
- Verify dimensional accuracy, fit-up, weld quality, and overall workmanship
- Identify production problems early and take action before they affect project schedules
- Coordinate with management regarding manpower, materials, equipment, tooling, and project constraints
- Provide clear updates regarding production progress, delays, risks, and resource needs
- Train, mentor, and develop employees while setting a strong example for craftsmanship and work ethic
- Establish expectations and hold team members accountable for attendance, productivity, safety, and quality
- Address performance or conduct concerns promptly and professionally in coordination with management
- Reduce rework, material waste, preventable downtime, and production bottlenecks
- Maintain an organized shop with properly stored materials, tools, equipment, and completed work
- Enforce company safety procedures and ensure employees use tools and equipment correctly
- Support quality-control inspections and maintain required production or inspection documentation
- Assist with the installation, deployment, loading, transportation, and setup of modular units when needed
- Protect company equipment and ensure required maintenance or repairs are reported promptly
- Lead by example and help create a culture of accountability, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement
