Oregon Pediatrics is a busy, growing pediatric primary care group with six locations serving children and families throughout the Portland metro area. Position Summary

Oregon Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Pediatric Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. This hybrid role combines direct patient care with pediatric phlebotomy and laboratory responsibilities to support providers in delivering outstanding care.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and families, is comfortable performing venipuncture and specimen collection, and thrives in a fast-paced pediatric practice. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient clinic operations while creating a positive experience for every patient.

Essential Responsibilities

Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Room patients, obtain medical histories, vital signs, and update electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
Perform pediatric venipuncture, capillary blood collection, and other specimen collection procedures while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
Prepare, label, process, store, and transport laboratory specimens according to established protocols.
Perform basic in-office laboratory testing following quality and safety standards.
Administer immunizations, medications, and treatments as directed by providers and within scope of practice.
Educate patients and families regarding procedures, medications, health maintenance, and disease prevention.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and laboratory records.
Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow as needed.
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is cleaned and sterilized.
Follow infection prevention, OSHA, CLIA, and laboratory safety guidelines.
Support a collaborative team environment while providing exceptional customer service to patients and families.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Previous pediatric, family practice, or medical office experience preferred.
Phlebotomy experience, including pediatric venipuncture, strongly preferred.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and infection control practices.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and accurate clinical documentation.
Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Current BLS/CPR certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and compassionate while caring for infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
