What You’ll Do:

Must be able to perform venipunctures when needed including rotating to SMH outreach lab sites

Oversees phlebotomist staffing and workflow of both SMH and all outreach sites

Assists in the coordination, implementation, and follow up of any new processes or changes to process/procedures with staff

Provides inventory control for supplies and assigns maintenance duties to staff to assure a clean and safe work environment according to OSHA standards

Works with Laboratory Director to investigate patient complaints and concerns

When asked, assists the Laboratory Director in the selection of prospective hires and gives input to the Director with performance appraisals

Ensures phlebotomy staff are trained in the use of supplies and techniques to ensure employee safety. Provides initial and ongoing training to phlebotomy staff regarding specimen processing, phlebotomy, customer interaction, report distribution, and test ordering

Must have broad and thorough knowledge of test orders and specimen processing

Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and is highly self motivated

Is responsible for sending Reportable Diseases to NHEDDS and ensures faxes and mailings are discharged in a timely manner

Ensures proper billing is applied to accounts and results reference lab reports as they become available

Works with technologists and technicians to ensure proper specimen preparation and technical problem solving

Performs all duties of the Phlebotomist job description

Meets department customer service standards and strives to enhance the level of customer service provided.
What We’re Looking For:
Required:
-
High School Graduate or equivalent
-
Minimum 1-3 years experience as Phlebotomist
- Certification through national credentialing association such as American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians
- Completion of phlebotomy certification program or Medical Assistant course

Good customer service/interpersonal skills; detail-oriented; have good manual dexterity
Preferred:
-
At least 3 months’ phlebotomy experience

Experience in a hospital setting preferred

Supervisory experience
