Animal Caregiver Job Description

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, move, restrain, and manage animals weighing up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Must be able to stand, walk, crouch and bend for a majority of the workday.
Must be able to use hands and arms working above shoulder level.
Work Conditions:
Consistent exposure to outdoors, animals and animal allergens under conditions with limited alternatives available.
Subject to exposure to bites, scratches, unpleasant odors and noises, infectious waste, and disease. Training in appropriate handling skills and disinfection protocols to reduce these risks will be provided, however some level of risk is always present.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Participate in all aspects of daily operations such as cleaning, laundry, feeding, enrichment, behavior modification, dog walking, playgroups, etc.
· Respectful and clear communication with co-workers, volunteers, vet team, management, and clients.
· Take and upload quality photographs to animal’s online database and assist in writing quality and accurate biographies of all canines and felines.
· Provide accurate and quality content for social media posts.
· Prepare and deliver daily enrichment specific to the animal’s needs and preferences.
· Monitoring, observing, and communicating the mental and physical health and behavior of all canines and felines through the online database.
· Assisting in daily medications and treatments of canines and felines.
· Assisting in keeping animal’s online database and enclosure cards up to date.
· Providing appropriate support to canines and felines in the behavior modification program.
· Assist with the intake process of incoming canines and felines, including administering vaccines, physical examination, and accurate documentation in online database.
· Ensuring proper nutrition and exercise of all canines and felines.
· Carry out appropriate cleaning and disinfection by following the spot and deep cleaning protocols.
· Assisting in adoption meet and greets, while providing a professional and welcoming experience for all clients.
· Processing adoptions, fosters, and returns in a judgement free, open-minded manner.
· Practice Fear Free handling of all animals.
· Ensuring the entirety of the kennel and cattery areas are maintained as a clean environment.
· May be required to drive ACS vehicles in transporting animals as needed.
Qualifications:
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
High school education or equivalent.
Higher education preferred.
Animal handling experience preferred.
Ability to work both independently and within a team structure.
Ability to follow directions and established standards of operation.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
