Position Summary: Interviews out‐patients to obtain required information to complete registration and third‐ party billing information. Obtains the signature of the patient or the appropriate party on consents and billing forms. Reviews patient information for prior approval, referral, or pre‐certification requirements, as necessary. Initiates appropriate follow‐through and completes documentation when required. Displays a warm and pleasing personality, is courteous and helpful when in contact with hospital guests (patients, family members, visitors, physicians, employees of own and other departments, etc.).
Education, License & Cert: High school graduate, with basic to advanced computer experience.
Experience: Exposure to and thorough understanding of PC software applications is required. Working knowledge of office equipment.
Essential Functions:
1. Ability to provide administrative support to all areas under Respiratory & Neurodiagnostic Services.
2. Answers phone promptly and identify self, department, and title.
3. Interviews patients or their representatives to obtain required information to complete registration and third‐party billing information accurately. Obtains the signature of the patient or the appropriate party on consents and billing forms.
4. Reviews patient information for prior approval, referral, or pre‐certification requirements. Initiates appropriate follow through and completes documentation. Reviews patient histories for appropriate documentation to justify testing.
5. Obtains and documents follow‐up with patients after sleep testing to meet accreditation standards.
6. Communicates department schedule to the appropriate department. (i.e., Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Function, Sleep, Neurodiagnostics, Bronchoscopy, Pulmonary Rehab)
7. Provide results of tests to referring physicians.
8. Schedules out‐patient testing for dept, as needed and fills schedule when vacancy exists.
9. Maintains data and sends monthly reports and assists director and supervisor with clerical duties.

Other Duties:
1. Assists visitors and patients with directions and assists pt. with transportation.
2. Calls patients to remind them of scheduled appointments.
3. Informs patients and their families of test delays.
4. Orders supplies when necessary.
