Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the opening of our new restaurant in Owings Mills, MD.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished restaurant leader to build a new operation from the ground up. As General Manager, you'll lead the restaurant through pre opening, hiring, training, opening, and ongoing operations while establishing the culture, standards, and leadership foundation for long term success.
We're looking for a hands on leader who knows how to build great teams, create exceptional guest experiences, drive financial performance, and turn operational expectations into consistent execution.
You'll have overall responsibility for the restaurant, including people, operations, hospitality, financial performance, food quality, safety, facilities, and team development. You'll work closely with culinary leadership and Miskiri Hospitality Group's support teams to ensure the restaurant is fully prepared for opening and positioned to perform at a high level from day one.
What You'll Lead
- Lead the pre opening preparation, operational readiness, and successful launch of Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen in Owings Mills
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop the opening restaurant team in partnership with Human Resources and company leadership
- Build and develop a strong restaurant leadership team across front of house and back of house operations
- Establish a positive, professional, accountable, and hospitality focused restaurant culture from day one
- Ensure the restaurant, equipment, technology, inventory, operating systems, and team are fully prepared for opening
- Lead opening training and ensure team members understand their roles, service expectations, operating procedures, menu knowledge, and brand standards
- Own overall restaurant operations and performance following the opening
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold restaurant managers and team members accountable for performance and established expectations
- Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the restaurant and actively lead during peak business periods
- Drive sales, profitability, labor management, food cost, inventory control, and controllable expenses
- Review restaurant performance and financial results, identify opportunities, and implement effective action plans
- Develop and manage restaurant schedules based on projected sales, business volume, labor targets, and operational needs
- Ensure accurate timekeeping, payroll preparation, scheduling, and other restaurant administrative responsibilities
- Maintain consistent execution of food quality, recipes, portioning, presentation, service, cleanliness, hospitality, and brand standards
- Partner closely with culinary leadership to maintain strong kitchen execution, food quality, food cost, productivity, and operational standards
- Monitor the guest experience and respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns and feedback
- Build relationships with guests and establish Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen as a strong presence within the Owings Mills community
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, recognition, and accountability
- Identify high potential team members and develop a strong internal leadership pipeline
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and proactively address recruiting and retention needs
- Ensure company policies, operating procedures, systems, checklists, cash handling standards, and training programs are consistently followed
- Maintain strong food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, health department, and workplace safety standards
- Ensure the restaurant remains clean, organized, well maintained, fully operational, and inspection ready
- Oversee restaurant facilities, preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment, and vendor coordination
- Protect company assets through strong cash controls, inventory procedures, security practices, and management oversight
- Partner with corporate leadership and support teams to implement company initiatives, programs, menus, systems, and operational priorities
- Identify operational challenges early, take ownership of solutions, and follow through to ensure sustainable improvement
What You Bring
- Proven General Manager or senior restaurant management experience in a full service restaurant environment
- Experience opening a new restaurant, leading a restaurant launch, or building a new restaurant team is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high performing restaurant teams
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to establish expectations, coach performance, and create accountability
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including sales, labor, food cost, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, and controllable expenses
- Demonstrated ability to analyze restaurant performance and implement solutions that produce measurable results
- Strong understanding of front of house and back of house restaurant operations
- Passion for hospitality and creating an exceptional guest experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and responsible alcohol service standards
- Experience with restaurant scheduling, POS, timekeeping, inventory, and operational systems; Toast and HotSchedules experience is a plus
- Excellent communication, organization, decision making, and problem solving skills
- Ability to remain composed, decisive, and solutions focused in a fast paced, high volume restaurant environment
- Ability to build strong partnerships across culinary, operations, Human Resources, and corporate support functions
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Availability to work a flexible schedule aligned with restaurant operations, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and increased availability during pre opening and launch periods
