Full Job Description

The work may be performed at various sites in Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, and Stanly Counties.

Overview

The Clinical Nursing Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing clinical instruction and direct supervision of nursing students in assigned healthcare settings. The instructor facilitates student learning by promoting safe, evidence-based nursing practice, evaluating clinical performance, and ensuring students meet course objectives and professional standards.

Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical instruction and supervision to nursing students in assigned healthcare facilities.
Guide students in the application of nursing knowledge, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice during patient care experiences.
Monitor student performance to ensure safe, competent, and ethical nursing practice.
Evaluate student clinical performance using established program evaluation tools and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate clinical attendance, evaluations, and required documentation.
Collaborate with course coordinators and nursing faculty regarding student progress and clinical experiences.
Serve as a professional role model by demonstrating high standards of clinical practice, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
Ensure compliance with healthcare facility policies, institutional policies, accreditation standards, and state board of nursing regulations.
Communicate effectively with clinical agency personnel to support positive learning experiences.
Identify and address student learning needs, safety concerns, and performance issues timely manner.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
Minimum of two years of recent clinical nursing experience in the specialty area assigned.
Demonstrated clinical competence and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to supervise and evaluate nursing students in a clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution (or minimum qualifications as required by the applicable state board of nursing).
Previous experience as a clinical nursing instructor or preceptor.
National specialty certification in the assigned clinical area.
Experience working with pre-licensure nursing students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of current nursing standards, evidence-based practice, and patient safety principles.
Ability to facilitate clinical learning and foster critical thinking and clinical judgment.
Strong organizational, leadership, and mentoring skills.
Ability to effectively evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and student success.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during clinical instruction.
Ability to demonstrate and assist with patient care activities as required in the clinical setting.
Ability to travel to assigned clinical sites.

Work Environment

Instruction is conducted exclusively in healthcare and clinical practice settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and other approved clinical agencies. Clinical schedules may include daytime, evening, weekend, or occasional holiday assignments.

Pay: $38.00 - $39.50 per hour
