The Opportunity
Bachman Machine Company is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a full-time, on-site position in St. Louis. You will build, fit, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair progressive and transfer stamping dies and related production tooling while partnering closely with engineering, operations, production, and quality.
The regular schedule is four 10-hour days, generally 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position reports to the Director of Operations.
What You Will Do
· Build, fit, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain progressive and transfer stamping dies
· Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T
· Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, CNC equipment, and related machine tools
· Perform precision machining, fitting, assembly, spotting, measurement, and inspection
· Troubleshoot tooling and production issues at the press and determine practical root causes
· Make adjustments that protect part quality, die reliability, and production performance
· Partner with engineering and production on new tooling, tool improvements, and manufacturability
· Identify opportunities to improve tooling life, maintenance practices, repeatability, and efficiency
· Share knowledge and help develop less-experienced team members
What We Are Looking For
· Demonstrated experience building, fitting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining progressive and/or transfer stamping dies
· Strong precision machining and toolmaking skills
· Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T
· Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and related precision measurement equipment
· Strong understanding of metals, tooling materials, machining processes, and die construction
· Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability
· Ability to communicate clearly, ask good questions, and work effectively across engineering, production, and quality
· Tool & Die apprenticeship, equivalent technical training, or demonstrated equivalent experience
· Experience in stamping or high-volume production environments preferred
· CAD/CAM and CNC machining experience preferred
Physical & Employment Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
· Ability to work safely in an active manufacturing environment
