Position Overview
Power Northwest is hiring a Commercial Solar Project Manager to manage commercial solar, battery storage, and related electrical projects from pre-construction through final closeout.
This role is ideal for a construction-minded project manager who can coordinate schedules, crews, materials, vendors, subcontractors, customers, utilities, AHJs, designers, electricians, and internal teams. The Commercial Project Manager will be responsible for keeping projects organized, safe, efficient, and on schedule while delivering the high-quality customer experience Power Northwest is known for.
The right candidate has strong communication skills, solar or construction project management experience, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to manage multiple active job sites at once.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial solar, battery storage, and related electrical projects from handoff through final closeout
- Build, maintain, and communicate project schedules across customers, installation crews, subcontractors, vendors, utilities, AHJs, and internal teams
- Coordinate pre-construction site visits, project documentation, plan sets, engineering, permitting, interconnection, material planning, installation, inspections, commissioning, and closeout
- Review approved plan sets, engineered documents, scopes of work, and job requirements to create job-specific Bills of Materials
- Order, track, and coordinate delivery of materials, tools, equipment, and specialty items needed to complete projects
- Visit job sites regularly to support crews, identify issues early, verify quality, and keep projects moving
- Work closely with the Construction Manager, electricians, installers, designers, project administrators, sales team, and operations leadership
- Communicate clearly with commercial customers and set realistic expectations around timelines, project milestones, inspections, and completion dates
- Coordinate with local AHJs and utilities for permitting, inspections, and interconnection approvals
- Identify field challenges, propose solutions, and coordinate corrective actions when needed
- Track project progress, open items, change orders, punch lists, closeout documents, and customer communication
- Help coordinate back-office tasks related to engineering, design, administration, accounting, and documentation
- Support project budget awareness by helping control labor, materials, scheduling, and avoidable rework
- Uphold Power Northwest’s standards for safety, workmanship, aesthetics, professionalism, and customer satisfaction
- Provide leadership, training, and support to team members when needed
- Complete required documentation throughout the commercial solar installation process
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in solar project management, construction project management, electrical project management, or a closely related field
- Experience managing construction schedules, crews, materials, vendors, customers, and job-site communication
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field coordination, and project closeout
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders at the same time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to read and interpret plan sets, scopes of work, engineered documents, and installation requirements
- Comfortable visiting active construction sites and working around ladders, rooftops, electrical equipment, and field crews
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial solar project management experience
- Battery storage or EV charging project experience
- Electrical, roofing, or general construction background
- Experience coordinating with utilities, AHJs, inspectors, engineers, and subcontractors
- Familiarity with permitting, interconnection, procurement, commissioning, as-builts, and commercial project closeout
- Experience with Aurora Solar, Monday.com, HubSpot, PandaDoc, or similar tools
- OSHA, NABCEP, electrical, roofing, or construction-related training or certifications
Work Environment
This is a full time in-person, field-connected project management role based in Portland, OR. The Commercial Project Manager will spend time in the office, at customer sites, and on active installation sites.
As part of onboarding, the Commercial Project Manager may spend time in the field working alongside installation crews to understand Power Northwest’s process, standards, tools, materials, and customer experience. Candidates should be comfortable being on roofs, using ladders, wearing fall protection, and following all job-site safety requirements when needed.

Compensation
Base salary depends on experience, with performance-based bonuses tied to project objectives and targets.
Expected total compensation: $70,000–$110,000 per year
