Full Job Description

Job Summary: As the Head Chef, you will run the daily operations of the main kitchen, leading the culinary crew. You will bridge the gap between upper management and the line crew, ensuring high food quality, strict cost controls, and smooth service transitions between high-volume ski seasons and summer banquets.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Kitchen Command: Oversee all line setups, food preparation, and ticket execution during fast-paced winter and summer service rushes.
Staff Supervision: Train, mentor, and supervise sous chefs, line cooks, and stewards, ensuring consistency, speed, and positive team morale.
Quality & Consistency: Conduct regular line checks, taste-test items, and audit plates to guarantee recipe standards and presentation guidelines are met.
Inventory & Purchasing: Manage food orders, receive vendor deliveries, check product quality, and conduct weekly inventory counts to control waste and costs.
Health & Safety Enforcement: Ensure flawless kitchen sanitation, proper food labeling, and total compliance with New York State Department of Health codes.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 4–6 years of culinary experience in high-volume, multi-outlet resorts or hotels, with at least 2 years in a kitchen leadership role (e.g., Sous Chef or Head Chef).
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills capable of running an intense, high-volume line.
Advanced financial knowledge of kitchen operations, specifically controlling food costs and managing hourly labor schedules.
Active ServSafe Manager certification (or New York equivalent).
Total scheduling flexibility to work nights, weekends, and peak holidays during the resort's high seasons.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
