City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma brings light into the darkness by building relationships and restoring dignity among people experiencing homelessness and poverty. At City Lights Village, our permanent supportive-housing community, we create a safe, stable, and welcoming place for neighbors rebuilding their lives.

As Receptionist & Community Connector, you will be the welcoming first point of contact for neighbors, visitors, volunteers, partners, vendors, and staff. You will combine reliable front-desk and administrative support with the relational skills to help people feel respected, informed, and connected to the right next step.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, keeping operations organized, and contributing to a mission-driven community. City Lights Village includes 75 residential homes, a laundry facility, a maintenance building, and a 12,000-square-foot community center with offices, gathering spaces, and a commercial kitchen.

What you will do

Provide consistent, welcoming reception coverage during scheduled business hours.
Greet visitors, manage the guest check-in process, and direct guests to the appropriate person, location, or resource.
Answer, screen, and route phone calls; monitor and respond to general email inquiries promptly and professionally.
Maintain an orderly, welcoming, and professional reception area.
Build respectful, appropriate relationships with Village neighbors and listen carefully to questions, concerns, and requests.
Connect neighbors with the appropriate City Lights staff member or resource; communicate urgent or sensitive matters through established protocols.
Help share information about Village activities, events, schedules, and opportunities.
Support community gatherings and events, including occasional [evening/weekend] activities as scheduled.
Coordinate appointments, meetings, and calendars for the Community Director and Village team.
Complete accurate data entry, filing, scanning, copying, visitor records, contact-list updates, and meeting/event preparation.
Protect confidential and sensitive information and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Communicate clearly with staff regarding visitors, messages, schedules, and operational needs.
Perform other related duties consistent with the role.

What success looks like

During your first 90 days, you will learn City Lights Village’s visitor, communication, and confidentiality procedures; establish dependable front-desk coverage and administrative routines; build respectful working relationships with neighbors and staff; maintain accurate calendars and records; and help ensure that every visitor receives a clear, welcoming next step.

Required qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Experience in reception, customer service, hospitality, administrative support, community engagement, or a related role.
Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with people from varied backgrounds and circumstances.
Strong organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
Working ability with email, calendars, word-processing documents, spreadsheets, and data-entry systems; willingness to learn new software.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and follow established procedures.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, hospitality, property-management, social-services, or supportive-housing environment.
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
Experience with scheduling software, databases, CRM systems, visitor-management systems, or administrative records.
Experience supporting volunteers, events, or community activities.

Work environment and physical requirements

This role is primarily performed in an office and community setting. Essential functions may include regularly communicating with others; using a computer and telephone; sitting and standing for extended periods; walking throughout the Village and community center; and occasionally moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. The role may occasionally require work outdoors and participation in community events. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions.

Compensation and benefits

$18.00–$20.00 per hour, based on relevant experience and qualifications
