Schedule: Full-Time
Shift: Night Shift
Weekend Rotation: Every Other Weekend
On-Call: None

About the Role

MedOp Solutions is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This position is ideal for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced emergency setting and has experience caring for patients across the lifespan with a wide variety of medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong emergency nursing skills, excellent critical thinking abilities, and experience working independently in a high-acuity Emergency Department.

Facility Overview

This Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center provides comprehensive emergency care to the surrounding community. The Emergency Department manages a broad spectrum of patient conditions while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Unit Information

12-bed Emergency Department (including triage)
Hallway beds utilized during periods of high census
Night shift staffing includes:
- Five RNs and one Paramedic until 11:00 PM
- Four RNs and one Paramedic beginning at 1:00 AM
- Three RNs and one Paramedic from 1:00 AM to 7:00 AM

Patient Population

Neonates through geriatrics
Adult medical emergencies
Trauma patients
Cardiac emergencies
Stroke patients
Respiratory emergencies
General Emergency Department presentations

Patient Ratios

Typically 1:5
May increase to 1:6 based on patient acuity and department volume

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
Perform rapid patient assessments and triage
Initiate emergency interventions and stabilize critically ill patients
Perform IV starts and bedside phlebotomy
Administer medications, emergency drips, and blood products as indicated
Assist with chest tube management and emergency procedures
Interpret cardiac rhythms and perform EKGs
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Document patient care accurately using EPIC

Qualifications

Required

Active Registered Nurse license
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
Current certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- TNCC
- MOAB or CPI (De-escalation Training)
Strong Emergency Department clinical skills including:
- Chest tube management
- IV insertion
- Bedside phlebotomy
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- EKG acquisition
- Emergency medication and drip administration

Preferred

Previous travel nursing experience (first-time travelers considered upon manager review)

Support Staff

Lead RN serves as a clinical resource
One CNA (approximately 1:12 ratio)
Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
Hospitalist coverage available 24/7
Bedside and nurses' station telemetry monitoring
No dedicated telemetry technician

Orientation

One unit orientation shift to learn department workflow

Scheduling & Expectations

Night shift assignment
Every other weekend required
No on-call responsibilities
Holiday coverage based on department needs
Requests for up to seven days of time off may be considered based on staffing needs
No floating required
