Full Job Description

Assists with general and technical work of some complexity and variety which involves the responsibilities of all matters pertaining to the operation of the Utility Billing Division.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES. ADDITONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY BE IDENTIFIED BY THE CITY AND LISTED AS SUCH IN THE IMCUMBENT’S PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ELEMENTS. VARIOUS TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED UNDER EACH ESSENTIAL FUNCTION. THOSE THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THE EXAMPLES OF WORK ARE NOT ALL INCLUSIVE; THEY ARE EXAMPLES ONLY AND MAY BE AMENDED OR ADDED TO AS NEEDED BY THE CITY OF McCOMB.

Answers telephone, and responds to inquiries
Enters routes for meter readers; keeps record of returns.
Manually enters readings as needed.
Provides cut off forms to Service Man and Meter Readers in route order.
Provides collections with alphabetical list of cut off forms.
Assists with process to final delinquent accounts.
Researches returned mail to determine address and account status.
Processes Work orders to cut off NSF checks not paid.
Processes new contracts, work orders, and assists customers as needed.
Processes work orders on accounts to determine correct usage.
Completes research to respond to billing inquiries.
Maintains documentation for account records.
Prints duplicate water bills for customers as needed
Processes change of address for customers
Processes final bills for customers and prepares work orders for water cutoff
Prepare monthly verification reports
Orders data log history for customers to help resolve water usage issues
Completes billing process and files reports.
Completes delinquent fee procedure.
Maintains account files.
Assists with printing monthly water bills and mailing.
Retrieve alphabetical list of cut off forms from collections adding penalty fee and stamping metal lock for accounts that have not cleared cut off balance. Total fees include previous and current month charges.
Assists with making sure work orders are completed and filed in a timely manner.
Issue work orders for Service Man to red tag customers with leak or high usage.
Performs other duties as assigned

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus two (2) years’ work experience in a customer service position, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
