ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

At Tri-County Partners Habitat for Humanity (TCPHFH) our vision is that all residents of Benton, Franklin, and Walla Walla counties will have the opportunity for a decent, safe, and affordable place to live and thrive. These homes are places where parents are able to raise their families in dignity and stability, thereby providing children with an environment to excel academically. This is a hand up, not a hand-out! TCPHFH helps individuals and families achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Homeownership opens opportunities that in turn build cycles of generational wealth for our hardest working families. Since 1994, TCPHFH has partnered with families and individuals to build over 160 attainable single-family homes, impacting 590+ children and 295 adults across multiple generations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Construction Supervisor is responsible to manage day-to-day construction operations at multiple Habitat build sites located in Benton, Franklin, and Walla Walla counties. This is a key position that leads our unique volunteer workforce toward the completion of a project, often in a hands-on capacity. The Construction Supervisor serves as a servant-leader in teaching and mentoring partner families and volunteers in construction activities and supports the timely completion of projects by ensuring that all work materials are available for each day’s work.

Responsible for leadership, construction, and timely completion of projects while utilizing substantial volunteer labor to accomplish projects within defined schedules and budgets.

The most important aspect of the Construction Supervisor’s job is that he or she must demonstrate belief in Habitat for Humanity’s philosophy and be able to confidently communicate Habitat’s mission to the community. This paid leadership position works closely with the Construction Project Manager and interfaces with both skilled and unskilled volunteers, including partner homeowners, individual volunteers and volunteer groups.

REQUIREMENTS

The Construction Supervisor will:

· Be a motivated individual with a strong belief in Habitat for Humanity’s mission

· Have at least 5-years of hands-on experience in most all aspects of residential construction (10-years preferred). Experience in diverse housing types is a bonus (single-family detached, multi-story, townhomes, etc.)

· Have strong interpersonal and customer service skills

· Possess strong communication skills

· Work effectively both as an individual contributor as well as part of a team

· Be able to lead and coordinate people and activities well; capable of deriving and implementing new ideas

· Maintain an atmosphere of diplomacy and mutual respect, inspiring diverse individuals to work together to reach common goals

· Have a minimum High School Diploma (Engineering, Construction Management or Project Management college experience preferred)

· Adept at technology (Office 365, MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore or other PM software)

· Possess strong teaching and mentoring skills in most all aspects of home construction trade activities

· Have a reliable vehicle and current WA state drivers’ license (to travel to and from worksites)

· Have a clean driving record supported by a Driving Abstract (to use company vehicles to provide volunteer transportation as necessary)

· Be physically and mentally capable of performing construction job activities and responsibilities

· Current CPR/First Aid Certification

· Have scissor lift, forklift and telehandler certifications (preferred)

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of the Construction Supervisor is to lead; teach and coordinate volunteers and paid subcontractors at the construction site to safely complete home construction activities as defined in the Tri-County Partners Habitat for Humanity building schedule. In order to achieve this, the Construction Supervisor will:

· Be on the worksite on scheduled work days (typically Tuesday through Saturday)

· Has regular contact with departments, employees, and managers at all levels of the internal organization to achieve organizational goals. E.g. volunteer recruitment, family services, communications, donor relations, and communications onsite.

· Collaborate with local technical high school instructors and students to provide in-the-field training opportunities

· Provide on-site safety and quality assurance

· Organize and lead on-site safety meetings for volunteers and partnering homeowners

· Maintain required training, including first aid, CPR, and other construction and craft training necessary to support the build schedule

· Strategize and communicate workflow to skilled volunteer Crew Leads

· Work closely with volunteer Crew Leads ensuring that the scheduled work for the day is understood, properly assigned to trained and competent individuals, and completed in a safe and quality manner

· Serve as Crew Lead for partner family workdays, corporate groups, and as needed

· Demonstrate construction techniques; train and mentor volunteers and partnering families to teach them useful construction skills

· Manage manpower, resources and materials, across multiple sites

· Supervise subcontractors, ensuring they meet contractual obligations

· Procure materials and services as needed (including paid, donated and in-kind), while adhering to the organization’s Procurement Policy

· Schedule subcontractors, materials and supplies as needed to support the build schedule

· Prepare reports on progress to Crew Leads and Construction Project Manager

· Manages and works with Construction Project Manager on the construction CPM schedule and provides forecasts on a weekly basis or as needed to keep key stakeholders up to date on project progress, delays, or milestones.

· Accurately creates daily logs and manages all onsite disputes with various trades. Managing scope and providing documentation to the Construction Project Manager for any issues that may arise.

· Provides accurate take-offs for all materials as needed to the Construction Project Manager for purchasing and estimating purposes.

· Provides sign-off and verification for proof of work for progress payments to Construction Project Manager

· Implement and inspect construction methods to meet organizational energy efficiency and sustainability goals

· Manage homeowner warranty repair requests

· Leads, trains and implements best practices in safety as required by OSHA and directed by Director of Construction.

· Attend Tri-County Partner staff meetings when possible

· Maintain professional and courteous relationships with volunteers, staff and partnering homeowners

· Maintain skill level through continuing education and participation in off-site continuing training programs

· Help develop local business endeavors, Habitat store, donor and community relationships

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Exerting over 100 pounds of force in team lifts as deemed necessary.

· Be able to stand, sit, walk across various even and uneven surfaces for long periods of time. (Move, Traverse)
