Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic team as a College Admissions Counselor and play a pivotal role in guiding high school students through the admissions process! This energetic position involves engaging with students, families to get them excited about the process.

Duties

Provide one on one guidance to high school students applying to college.
Provide personalized academic advising to prospective students, helping them navigate application requirements and career pathways.
Guide students in choosing coursework for their upcoming year in high school
Manage the entire admissions timeline by mapping out dates/deadlines for students using a google spreadsheet.
Helping students with completing the Common Application. Cal State and UC Applicaiton. Reviewing and submitting applications
Help students to narrow down their list of colleges, by major and campus fit.
Assist students with identifying excellent topics for their college essays
Assit students with identifying summer programs according to major
Interpreting the Strong's Campbell Interest Inventory and connect to colleg major
Advising freshman and sophomore high schools on how to get ready for the upcoming year.

Qualifications

Proven track record assiting students through the college application process. 8-10 years of experince needed.
Ability to connect with students from middle school to college level.
Familiarity with student transcripts, AP, honors and IB Coursework
Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with students from various backgrounds.
Experience in individual/group counseling or mentoring students through academic or career decisions.
Knowledge of university admission processes.
Ability to analyze transcripts and requirements for specific majors.
Knowledge of the common application, UC Application and Cal State Application
Masters Degree and or Ph.D in Education, Counseling, Psychology or related field
Graduated from a US institution
Highly organized, warm and patient personality
Experience in a college admissions office a plus
Experience as a high school counselor -

Additional info

Our busy time of the year is July-December-

We meet with students during the hours of 2-7 pm Mon-Friday and Saturdays from 10-4 pm and on Sundays from 10-4 pm. You have flexibilty when you work but you must be avaialbe during Pacific Standard Time. Hourly pay range is - $40-50.00 per hour.

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
