The HR Compliance Specialist at United Health Services (UHS) helps ensure HR practices meet healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and I-9 compliance requirements. Working closely with HR, Legal, Risk, and operational teams, this role reduces risk, strengthens credentialing and licensure oversight, and provides practical training that helps leaders act with confidence. The HR Compliance Specialist translates complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance, promotes consistent standards across our healthcare system, and creates opportunities to make a meaningful impact while supporting a culture where people and compliance come first.

Essential Functions:

Draft, review, and update HR compliance policies and procedures to align with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and applicable employment laws

Conduct routine HR compliance audits (e.g., credentialing, licensure verification, personnel file integrity, and I-9 compliance) and document findings to strengthen audit readiness

Monitor regulatory and compliance developments and translate changes into practical guidance, policy updates, and risk-mitigation actions for HR and operational teams

Partner cross-functionally with HR, Legal, Risk, and operational stakeholders to advance enterprise compliance initiatives and reinforce consistent standards across entities

Support internal and external audits and accreditation activities by coordinating documentation, preparing monitoring reports, and recommending corrective actions to maintain survey readiness

Design and deliver compliance education for leaders and staff by developing clear training content and facilitating targeted sessions for diverse audiences

Maintain accurate compliance logs, documentation, and reporting dashboards, analyzing trends to inform leadership decisions and continuous improvement priorities

Contribute directly to organizational risk reduction by identifying compliance gaps early and driving timely remediation plans that support workforce integrity and operational continuity

Apply professional judgment within defined parameters to prioritize audit findings, recommend corrective actions, and escalate higher-risk concerns appropriately

Strengthen consistency across the employee lifecycle by reinforcing standardized practices for onboarding documentation, credentialing/licensure verification, and HR recordkeeping

Influence readiness across multiple sites or entities by partnering with leaders to maintain “always ready” audit habits—not just event-based preparation

Improve compliance efficiency and effectiveness by contributing to the design, testing, and implementation of process and system enhancements (e.g., HRIS workflows, documentation controls)

Build trust through clear, timely communication that helps leaders understand requirements, reduce risk, and sustain an ethical workplace culture

Balance regulatory rigor with supportive education and practical guidance for managers and teams
Compliance and Professional:

Maintain required professional credentials and qualifications and complete continuing education to sustain HR compliance expertise

Complete required organizational compliance training and competency validations within established timelines to support audit readiness and professional accountability

Support I-9 compliance and documentation retention practices by ensuring records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready in accordance with federal requirements.

Assist with compliance-related investigations and incident response by documenting issues clearly, supporting fact-finding, and tracking corrective actions through completion

Maintain current knowledge of healthcare accreditation and regulatory expectations that affect HR practices, supporting proactive readiness across assigned areas

Safeguard sensitive data by following established security policies and procedures, using systems responsibly, and promptly reporting potential security incidents, risks, or policy violations

As applicable to your role, support cybersecurity and data protection requirements throughout the supplier lifecycle by coordinating vendor risk assessments, monitoring third-party compliance, and promptly reporting identified supply chain or cybersecurity risks

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree

HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification

At least 3 years of related experience in a role or field that provides transferable skills or knowledge relevant to the position

Up to 1 year of direct experience performing the exact or very similar duties required by the job within the same role or function
Preferred:

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification

At least 1 year of healthcare experience working in the healthcare industry in any job function

At least 1 year of project/operations leadership experience leading projects, workflows, or operational processes

At least 1 year of technical/systems experience using specialized tools, software, or equipment required for the role
