Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. (APS) is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Risk Management Coordinator to join our Safety and Environmental Compliance team at our corporate office in Hammonton, New Jersey.
This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in insurance claims, risk management, workers' compensation, or a related field who enjoys taking ownership of cases, working with insurance professionals, and helping a company reduce risk and control costs.
The Risk Management Coordinator will serve as a central point of contact for insurance claims and risk management activities across APS's multi-state operations. This position will work closely with our Safety and Environmental Compliance team, field operations, insurance carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and legal counsel.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for company-wide incident and insurance claim reporting.
- Manage workers' compensation, automobile, general liability, and property damage claims from initial report through resolution.
- Gather and organize incident reports, photographs, witness statements, medical information, site records, and other supporting documentation.
- Report claims to insurance carriers and third-party administrators and monitor each claim through closure.
- Communicate with insurance carriers, brokers, adjusters, attorneys, third-party administrators, field personnel, and management.
- Track claim status, reserves, payments, settlements, and outcomes.
- Administer the company's deductible fund and process deductible-level payments within established authority limits.
- Support OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, including OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs.
- Assist with state and federal regulatory reporting requirements.
- Prepare claim summaries, timelines, chronologies, and supporting documentation for legal counsel.
- Assist with litigation matters, settlement conferences, and mediations as needed.
- Support annual insurance renewals by compiling loss runs, payroll information, vehicle schedules, exposure data, and underwriting documentation.
- Track certificates of insurance for subcontractors and vendors and assist with contract insurance requirements.
- Analyze claims and loss trends and prepare reports for management.
- Identify loss trends and recommend opportunities to reduce risk and prevent future incidents.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready claim and risk management records.
- Assist with special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience in insurance claims administration, risk management, or a related field.
Insurance Industry Experience: We’re looking for an insurance professional, ideally with experience working for an insurance broker or carrier. Knowledge of contracting and construction is a plus, but insurance industry experience is our top priority. Experience with pavement preservation is not required—we’re happy to provide the training needed to learn our industry
- Working knowledge of workers' compensation, automobile, general liability, and property insurance claims.
- Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple claims and priorities across several states.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional and effective communication skills when working with insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, employees, field personnel, and management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with claims-management or risk-management software is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to APS locations and job sites.

Work Environment
This position is primarily based in the APS corporate office in Hammonton, NJ, with occasional travel to job sites, production and storage facilities, and other APS locations. Occasional attendance at settlement conferences, mediations, or other off-site meetings may be required.
