Full Job Description

Heavy Materials is the leading producer and supplier of construction aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and cement in the U.S. Virgin Islands. A subsidiary of the Haugland Group, the company operates across the islands and exports materials via barge throughout the Northeastern Caribbean.

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Accounting Manager to join our team.

Key Functions:

Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial reports.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Support project/job cost tracking and construction-related accounting activities as needed.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with internal and external audits and maintain supporting documentation.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiencies.
Oversee accounting staff, review work for accuracy, and support department operations.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Construction industry accounting experience preferred but not required.
CPA or other professional certification preferred but not required.
