ASCEND is an innovative student support and mentorship program rooted in Brain-Based Learning, connection, and meaningful student engagement. We partner with schools to support students through structured, relational, and neuroscience-informed practices that help young people regulate, connect, and rise.
Our programs operate within expanded learning environments where students benefit from consistency, mentorship, and intentional support beyond the traditional classroom.
Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced, highly capable, and relational professionals to serve as ASCEND Mentor Level III –Paraprofessionals. This role is designed for individuals who already have a strong foundation in paraprofessional or behavior-based student support and are ready to operate at a higher level of responsibility, awareness, and leadership within a school setting.
Mentor Level III’s are trusted to support complex student needs, implement plans with fidelity, communicate across teams, and help maintain program quality across sites. They serve as a steady, skilled presence for students, staff, and families. This is not an entry-level role — it requires both experience and maturity in student support work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong, consistent, and meaningful relationships with students
- Support students with disabilities, behavioral needs, and social-emotional challenges
- Implement and follow IEPs, 504 Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans with accuracy and consistency
- Provide real-time behavioral support, de-escalation, and proactive intervention strategies
- Support individual students and small groups during expanded learning activities
- Monitor student progress and behavior and provide clear, professional feedback to supervisors
- Complete incident reports, case notes, and documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain strong, professional communication with families and school personnel
- Support after-school vendors and staff in maintaining structured, safe environments
- Assist in coordinating student transitions, routines, and engagement throughout the program
- Support classroom and program operations including setup, organization, and materials
- Provide toileting/bathroom assistance, lifting, and personal care as needed with professionalism and dignity
- Supervise students across campus settings including classrooms, cafeteria, outdoor spaces, and transitions
- Participate in required Brain-Based Learning training and ongoing professional development
- Collaborate with Site Leads, Program Director, and school staff
- Help maintain a positive, regulated, and engaging environment for all students
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- College or post-college background in psychology, education, counseling, neuroscience, or related field
- Experience in behavior intervention, paraprofessional support, or expanded learning programs
- Strong group facilitation or student leadership experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
Required Skills & Commitments:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a paraprofessional, behavior technician, or similar role
- Strong understanding of: IEP processes, 504 Plans & Behavior Intervention Plans
- Experience with incident reporting, documentation, and compliance expectations
- Ability to support students with toileting and personal care needs when required
- High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
- Clear communication, reliability, and professional follow-through
- Ability to stay calm, regulated, and solution-focused in fast-paced environments
- Strong ability to build relationships with students, families, and staff
- Must pass a background check and TB test upon hire
- CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter certification required (or completed upon hire)
- Participation in required trainings and professional development is mandatory
Work Hours:
Hours vary based on school site type, bell schedules, and program needs.

-Elementary School Sites 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
-Middle School Sites 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
-Minimum Day (Elementary) 1:00 PM – 5:45 PM
-Minimum Day (Middle School) 1:00 PM – 6:30 PM
*Hours are subject to specific school sites, minimum days, conferences, and program needs.
