Full Job Description

Position Status: Full Time

FLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Supervised by: Director of Finance

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE: The overall responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to assist the Director of Finance with select aspects of the finances of the Family Abuse Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, skill/ability, and licenses/credentials required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Accounting

Experience:

Experience in the field of non-profit or for-profit accounting and/or finance preferred
Experience working with QuickBooks

Skills/Abilities:

Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Speak effectively before groups
Ability to resolve conflict
Ability to receive supervision
Demonstrates effectiveness as a member of a team as well as the ability to work independently
Work in basic computer programs such as MS Word & Excel.
Ability to analyze and solve practical problems and multi-task
Ability to handle crisis situations with sensitivity and assertiveness
Experience working with diverse populations and groups
Ability to maintain accurate data and documentation.

Licenses/Credentials

Valid Texas Driver’s License and clear driving record
Valid Auto Insurance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ongoing/monthly Duties:

General bookkeeping functions: processing checks, deposits, general journal entries, entering payments, invoices, etc.
Performs payroll function.
Assist with preparing financial and accounting documents, reports and statements in compliance with GAAP principles for funders, audits, board packets, etc.
Ensure safeguarding of financial records and equipment assets, including maintaining filing systems and documentation.
Assist with monitoring and projecting cash flow.
Assist with Human Resource duties, creating QuickBooks employee profiles, employment benefit packages, annual training, etc.
As needed, act as a back-up receptionist by helping to answer and direct calls, administer the telephone system, greet and announce clients/visitors and process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes
Other duties as assigned.

Annual Duties:

Assist in the development of the organization’s annual budget.
Assist with Audits.
Assist with analyzing short-term and long-term fiscal goals and project cash requirements.

One-Time Projects:

Assist with developing, implementing, and testing written financial management policies and operating procedures.
